Dutch colonial imperialism is the best colonial imperialism.

Brian you are seeing it from the same angle. The Dutch were no better than the rest. What happened in Suriname was not pretty and we left a mess behind.

Wallonië was a compromise after the 1813 uprising. It has never worked because they dont.
Btw never call them Belgians especially in Luik/Luttich/ Liége, Antwerpen/Anvers or Brussel/Bruxelles

We actually have a supplier in Belgium. Fine people, but they don't appreciate the banter about cutting off hands of people that couldn't meet rubber quotas in the Congo. That is what Antwerp means. Imaging naming a city after their primitive rituals?
Good beer and the food in Brussel is outstanding as long as they pay.

It is not banter but pure fact. Antwerpen does mean that but not Antwerp. "Werpen" means throw and "Ant" means hand in Antwerps. But has nothing to do with the Congo. It is a middle age myth.

I cant see the connection that is made between the Congo and the name Antwerpen as they have nothing in common.
