Re: The Coronavirus Thread
Heard that a doc who had given her a vaccine was found 'positive'.
What kind of vaccine is prioritized now?

Screaming libertarian hauled off to quarantine. "Get your government hands off me!"
Re: The Coronavirus Thread
Elderly people here are advised to get vaccinated against "Streptococcus pneumoniae" as it was observed that pneumonia from Corona could be worsened by parallel infection with those bacteria.

Re: The Coronavirus Thread
California recently decriminalized knowingly passing on HIV. Civil liberties were more important than a dangerous virus.
People are screeching about civil liberties from every quarter now, including folks talking about our 'one confirmed case' (in NWT) and insisting on privacy.
I wish facebook/google/twitter would use their algorythms to analyse likely infections, and colour people's profiles according to their risk exposure.
Next, I would wonder if they should only show the user themselves, show their contacts/friends, or only show government officials.
Of course, it was ok according to civil liberties for them to use such info to predict behaviour for marketing purposes. Will it be ok for disease tracking?

Re: The Coronavirus Thread
Might make sense. Not much does to me yet, though I think I'm not alone.
Clearing snow for an older neighbour...holy fuck I hope I'm not infecting them. Alternative is to leave them trapped...sometimes, there aren't good options (like my dearly-loved friend who is a trucker)

This is from already the weeks ago:

As a result, the vaccine actually went out of stock because all many people got it. Maybe I'll be reason for the low number of deaths in n Germany? High number of peopled vaccinated against this bacteria, so less severe forms of pneumonia in people affected by Corona?

Re: The Coronavirus Thread
well, if there are a lot of people with the streptococcus, and it flares up and kills them because the corona has weakened them, it might be that.

Re: The Coronavirus Thread
I had that last fall. I think 65 is when they want you take that. I had 2 shingles ones too, out of mu pocket. Medicare paid 20 dollars of 180. Twice.
Re: The Coronavirus Thread
Yeah, 65 is what I was told when I had my flu shot last fall. I haven't had the shingles shot, probably since I had shingles 13 tears ago.

Re: The Coronavirus Thread
I got shingles twice. Once in the 90s and then again about 8 years ago. It was Christmas time on both occasions - maybe I'm a lurgic or something.

Re: The Coronavirus Thread
Listening to Trump's Corona virus briefing for today. He sounds like someone who doesn't understand what he's reading, and he saying things like, '... and we have now the nation guard in New York, in the state of New York, a tremendous number, and they're going to be doing something special, just you see, some great things... they're already doing great things but they're going to be doubling and tripling their efforts ...'. Listening to him struggle to recite from a list has suddenly lent weight to those who say he might be dyslexic or have some SLD.
