The EU is saying Trump is playing the blaming game as he did nothing when the outbreak occurred.

And the rest. There's tonnes of cases in Europe. Last I heard there weren't all that many in the UK.

The UK is one of the highest in Europe but it does not matter as he is playing the blaming game. The numbers are still low. Italy has a population of over 60 million. A few thousand cases is nothing. It is all hype. Trump would be unable to say how many cases are in America. Very little is being reported and the lack of sickness insurance is causing many people to carry on working and not staying at home. A virus test costs $3000 at the moment.

some 30 million in US get the flu each year, so 10%
if 30 million get corona virus, and 1% die, so....300 000 will die? because we can't go to lock down, just stop Europeans from coming (why would they come anyway, we are not prepared to treat them if they get sick or even just want a test)

What's with the testing obsession? Jesus, can you imagine how many dorks are requesting them even now in ERs across the US?

If you are seriously ill you'll be isolated and a test will be requested. Otherwise stay home, drink plenty of water, yadda, yadda...

If you are about to travel, or arrived from abroad, tests should be available. This disease is novel in that you can walk around for a week infecting people, with no symptoms.

How many tests would that have been since December Tero? In the US alone?

You can also be tested negatively for the first few days. Tests have to be repeated to be sure. It's only practicable to perform tests (multiple times) on people that show symptoms or got in contact with carriers

The Grauniad
Super-rich jet off to disaster bunkers amid coronavirus outbreak
Image
Like hundreds of thousands of people across the world, the super-rich are preparing to self-isolate in the face of an escalation in the coronavirus crisis. But their plans extend far beyond stocking up on hand sanitiser and TV boxsets.
The world’s richest people are chartering private jets to set off for holiday homes or specially prepared disaster bunkers in countries that, so far, appear to have avoided the worst of the Covid-19 outbreak.
Many are understood to be taking personal doctors or nurses on their flights to treat them and their families in the event that they become infected. The wealthy are also besieging doctors in private clinics in Harley Street, London, and across the world, demanding private coronavirus tests.
...
Ali, a cardiovascular surgeon, said his clients had pleaded for Covid-19 vaccination, even though scientists said it would be at least a year until a vaccine was developed.
All money, no fucking brains.
As long as they're OK in their bunkers, then sod the cash-strapped health services and those that do not (or cannot) have health insurance.
If the worst comes to the worst (looking on the gloomy side) they could emerge from their bunkers into a world for which they would be not fit for purpose - no skills except money-grabbing.

I was just thinking about the US/European travel restrictions. Because there are no border controls between Schengen countries it's impossible to restrict people from specific countries like Italy, therefore you have to restrict all Schengen countries.

If you can't behave you'll ALL stay in from recess.
Yeah well that's just, like, your opinion, man.

Now you make me wish Trump rallies were as popular as your president keeps claiming.
What claim did he make, that you fairly dispute?

Or are you just vaguebooking?
Don't know why I should bother offering evidence to you. You'll just reject it out of hand, then accuse me of being blinded by bias. But WTF? Here we go: Donald Trump is still lying about his crowd sizes at rallies and campaign events around the country.

And who could forget Trump's claim that a million to 1.5 million people, "all the way back to the Washington Monument" watched his inauguration speech?

Image
Inauguration speeches in 2017 (left) and 2009 (right)
Oh, those are from 2018 and earlier. Yeah, he bullshitted about them, looks like. The media also does (some still try to promote the idea that he is 'unpopular', for example)

Whne you posted this, I thought you meant currently, and I went and looked up his rally crowds lately.

He seems to be drawing more than his 'opposite number' in the Dems camp, as of 2019
https://neonnettle.com/news/8508-joe-bi ... -hampshire

And currently, it looks like he has crowds nearly as big as Trump-of-past was claiming.

But yeah...he sure did say his crowds were bigger than they were. If we let him get away with lying, before we know it - ALL politicians will dissemble with truth...

I know government workers, who have the best benifits on earth, who keep going in to work when they are sick.

They are known as 'troopers', and 'committed', and 'dedicated'. Such has been celebrating, and promoted for a long time.

I doubt there will be much chance of avoiding transmission. Efforts are better spent (personally, I mean) on otehr measures.
