Re: The Trump Impeachment
So off to the Senate now where they are already investigating Biden's possible criminal activity. This can only end well for Trump......
A rational skeptic should be able to discuss and debate anything, no matter how much they may personally disagree with that point of view. Discussing a subject is not agreeing with it, but understanding it.

There will be NO witnesses. Only a vote and a couple of speeches.Tyrannical wrote: ↑Thu Dec 19, 2019 1:43 amSo off to the Senate now where they are already investigating Biden's possible criminal activity. This can only end well for Trump......
It is going poorly for Trump. Judges will need to take a half a million Democrats off the voting rolls in WI, MI etc

Nah! Trump could be a high profile pedophile and the Republican party would still exonerate him. Face it, your country is fucked because the parties are binary. Vote the party line, not what is right.

To be fair, she didn't vote "P" for present, she voted "P" for Putin.Tero wrote: ↑Thu Dec 19, 2019 1:47 amTulsi the fake Democrat

People think "queue" is just "q" followed by 4 silent letters.
But those letters are not silent.
They're just waiting their turn.

Re: The Trump Impeachment
We have 5 Trumpists in DC and mini Trump as governor.
Re: The Trump Impeachment
Well, here's her explanation. I don't see her censure proposal having any impact on Trump unless it comes from both the House and Senate, and Moscow Mitch would rather have all his teeth pulled than give the Democrats any kind of victory.tattuchu wrote: ↑Thu Dec 19, 2019 8:04 pmTo be fair, she didn't vote "P" for present, she voted "P" for Putin.Tero wrote: ↑Thu Dec 19, 2019 1:47 amTulsi the fake Democrat

So what happens next. Does she get kicked out of the Democratic party?

Re: The Trump Impeachment
Smart people always have good rationalizations, but it doesn't work. I made similar points a few weeks ago, and she's right, the process is absurd. But her, and my conclusions about what that means are not necessarily correct. First, it's difficult to do more than imagine, and then only vaguely, what a non-partisan process in our system would look like. Second, how does her decision either meet the immediate needs of the situation, or help get us to where she thinks we ought to be?
It's possible her choice is just surrendering to the chaos.

Re: The Trump Impeachment
Her rationale is ridiculous. By her logic, it will never be right to impeach so long as the party of the impeached president decides to defend its president.

Re: The Trump Impeachment
Bleh. She's going full 'both sides!!' as if the yalping uberrubes like Gaetz, Gohmert, Jordan, et al. had no choice but to be noxious, dissembling blowhards. The evil radical left socialist Democrat Party left them no other option. She ignores the fact that Democratic leadership resisted initiating impeachment despite the fact that plenty of back-benchers were ready to go there over previous blatant malfeasance by Trump. She agrees that there was a real demonstration of guilt as described in her quote from Hamilton, but nonetheless implies that impeachment was merely a partisan attack on the president. She's grandstanding, and acts as if she thinks that her censure bill (toothless finger-wagging) would somehow be a purer and less partisan route than impeachment. Meanwhile, Trump continues to try to short-circuit the election. Let him and the win-at-any-cost Republicans have their way while the high-minded patriotic centrists stand to one side, on their principles of 'cooperation' and not dividing the country.Joe wrote: ↑Fri Dec 20, 2019 4:02 pmWell, here's her explanation. I don't think she's in any danger of getting kicked out of the party, despite her feet of clay.
Re: The Trump Impeachment
Grandstanding is Mrs Joe's opinion as well, but I prefer not to speculate on Gabbard's motives. I don't buy for a minute her implication that the impurity of the Democrat's motives or fairness of the process has any bearing on the merits of their argument for impeachment. As Seabass points out, her logic is flawed. Plus, the Republican counterarguments have been equally weak.
Also, presenting Hamilton's words as a warning is misleading. It was more a prediction when taken in context.
Personally, I think Pelosi should just send the articles to the Senate and let them do whatever they damn well please, intervening only to remind them they will be under a juror's oath to "do impartial justice according to the Constitution and laws" when they make prejudicial statements.
