The sickening thing I found from watching The New Statesman was that despite my age, very little of it went over my head. I recognised the greed, corruption, sleaze, snobbery and downright contempt of the poor even though we've had 12 years of a Labour government. Those people never went away, just the more extreme element are waiting in the wings and waiting for a chance to tear down social progress (admittedly Labour are more socially progressive than the Tories, but it's a closer call when it comes to economics and foreign policy). Hannan isn't the only evidence, aligning the European section of the Tories to a bunch of racist homophobes is also proof you can paint a turd green but it still smells of shit.
