We're off to Tassie soon. Memo to self - don't pick up that pretty octopus...

Blue-ringed octopus have been spotted at beaches across Tasmania this month, but a lack of data on the deadly creature means it's unknown whether their numbers are swelling.
Two of the octopus were spotted at Devonport over the weekend and another in Wynyard.
Sightings have also been reported at Bellerive Bluff and Margate in the state's south.
The octopus is among the most venomous marine animals in the world, whose bite can cause total body paralysis and death if not treated.

I won't be swimming; I shall gaze on the waves as I stroll on a beach. My main objectives:
* go on a series of short bush walks, particularly to waterfalls (Tassie is a very beautiful place)
* eating luscious food
* visiting as many wineries, gin distilleries and whisky distilleries as I possibly can...

I don't mean in geographical size. I mean in intensity. Yesterday both were predicted to be Cat 5 (the highest rating) when they cross. I think the NT one is now predicted to be Cat 4.

Many years ago I took long service leave and we toured all around Western Australia, including the north-west. Huge road distances to travel, and very varied but (to me) very beautiful scenery. Industrial ports on the coast associated with gas fields and iron ore exports, but amazing, untouched gorge country in the interior. We're thinking of heading back there next year...

Thanks Jim. Gave myself a little virtual tour earlier with google maps and searches. It is huge and some parts look absolutely stunning.
