The latest fad is a poverty social. Every woman must wear calico,
and every man his old clothes. In addition each is fined 25 cents if
he or she does not have a patch on his or her clothing. If these
parties become a regular thing, says an exchange, won't there be
a good chance for newspaper men to shine?

I didn't finish high school either. I earned a GED while incarcerated because I had to.

It's too easy to say that Trump voters are dumb - a lot harder to say why they voted for him. Popularism always plays well with those getting stiffed in the economy. People want to believe that there's a simple explanation, and there's someone else to blame - and paradoxically that often turns out to be those who they perceive as having lower social status than themselves as well as the rich and powerful who seem to have it so easy. Trump came along and said, "Hey, I'm not one of them - I know what's what, you can trust me." Desperate people will always cling to that sort of bollocks and ignore the fact that those who are usually peddling that rot are blaggards who've made a career out of stiffing the little guy.

It's one of the most infuriating aspects of the whole thing. It seems obvious to me that Trump isn't their guy. I can't imagine them supporting a guy like Trump 10-20 years ago. He's just about everything they hate, and to their credit, many Republicans did realize Trump isn't one of them or what they've claimed to be for so long. But the others...

That's an eternity in county Brian. :worried: But in Houston, 3-6 months waiting to be transferred somewhere to serve your sentence wasn't unheard of. In fact, I've sat around in Harris County long enough that I think I can be given a 2-5 year sentence and I may never catch the bus. It'd be time served, provided they allowed for that sort of thing.

Thankfully, I should never have to find out.
