Talking about stock generally, you won't find me disagreeing that the stockmarket is a form of gambling. Likewise you won't find me disagreeing that bitcoin investment involves gambling. But for nth time, this isn't an argument for bitcoin being a scam. It's an argument for it being a bad/risky investment.

That profit that is re-invested adds to the assets of the company, and thereby increases the fundamental value of the company. They may build another factory, or invest in more efficient machinery, meaning that they will increase future earnings. In anticipation of this, investors buy shares and are happy to forgo immediate dividends.

This isn't that difficult to understand.

Now apply this to Bitcoin.

Where does the investment money go?

How are profits raised in future when there is no nett asset value with which to generate profits?

Indeed it isn't, and I've already dunked the conclusion you and Hermit make from it. Profits REGULARLY don't result in an increase in stock price. So without dividends and without capital growth, where are you magicking a "share of the profits" from?

This is just getting silly now. Let's make a bet. If Bitcoin is a scam it should be gone in a year's time. I'll bet $50 with whoever wants to take it that it will still exist.
