The feature that worries me most was mentioned in a recording by a politician in another thread, but I can't say it as well. I'll have a go.
We elect lawmakers, who delegate their authority to make laws to their sub-lieutenants. Those sub-lieutenants are not elected and not answerable to the electorate, but make policies which are the real exercised authority on many matters.
Our government has a regular scam where a person gets a job to do a thing, then they hire a consultant to do the thing, then they submit the thing. If the thing turns out to be shit, they promise to NOT renew the consultants contract, and write up a new RFP to find a new consultant (or the same consultant working for a new company with a new name)
It's almost impossible to blame anyone.
