He's using his power. Remember he gambled and won. He was right, so wouldn't the worst thing he could do be to become a statesman? The people don't want that. The Republican party can't afford it. Their base has been primed for exactly this situation, so his best strategy is to get worse.

I'm only conservative if conservative is: prochoice, progaymarriage, progay rights, pro free speech, very much atheist, very much antitheist, I am against requiring kids to say the pledge of allegiance, I am against the death penalty (I would eliminate it altogether), I am pro prison reform and in favor of eliminating incarceration for all except violent offenses, I am pro drug legalization (marijuana, cocaine, etc.), I am very much in favor of antidiscrimination laws when it comes to race, color, creed, national origin, disability, age, sex, and sexual orientation, I am pro-reasonable gun control, I am very much in favor of defendant's rights and strict application of search and seizure restrictions and warrant requirements in policing, I am against stop and frisk, I am in favor of videotaping police officers and would require them all to have body and dashboard cameras, and I accept climate science the same as any other science (and to be clear I agree that the science points to humans as being a significant contributor and driver of climate change).

You should even be ashamed to write a post like this. It's juvenile and silly. But, it apparently is the "team" you have allied yourself with - the team that was given birth by the creators of "Atheism Plus" and their ilk from a few years ago, and so your go-to way of dealing with people you disagree with is to insult, and namecall.
I've never so much as opened Atheism Plus in my browser, you horse's ass.
Never said you did, but you act like them. You and your ridiculous, hyperbolic insults. Republicans are "worse than Nazis." Absurd on its face. You sound like something out of "ElevatorGate" - Remember - “That’s right, you liberal, intellectual guy, who has a healthy interest in science and skepticism, but who finds feminism distasteful and would rather not hear about it. You are worse than rape threats”

Maybe when you grow up a bit, you'll be able to discuss issues of the day without flying off the handle.

I don't doubt that you think Republicans are more dangerous than Nazis. That's the line that comes out of the Progressive left these days. That's why when people like you advocate "punching nazis" what you really are advocating is punching republicans (anyone else who doesn't say the right things, in your view). Anyone who, with a straight face, would make the assertions you just made has swallowed some sort of Kool-Aid. Did it happen on campus, or did this nonsense come to you on your own?
I don't drink Kool-Aid and I don't advocate punching Nazis. I do, however, believe in AGW. It's quite simple, really: a regime that is happy to trash the entire goddamn ecosystem is as a matter of fact more dangerous than a genocidal one.
You don't advocate punching Nazis? You think Nazis should just be able to Nazi around all Nazi-like and advocate totalitarianism, genocide, race-hate, xenophobia, and holocausts? But - Republicans - worse than that - Republicans are WORSE than fascist, totalitarian, race-hate, genocidal, white supremacists. I'll put myself one step below Republicans - a generally liberal guy who doesn't accept your theory that failure to adhere to leftist policies on the environment makes one worse than Nazis....that makes me worse than Nazis, and even worse than Republicans. :awesome:

Tweeting and insults were calculated to save Senate:
By Greg Sargent
Opinion writer
October 8 at 10:00 AM
With Brett M. Kavanaugh now on the Supreme Court, Republicans are coalescing around a new closing argument in the midterms: The Democratic response to this whole affair shows them to be lawless, out of control and unfit to govern, so you should keep power in the hands of the GOP, which heroically took on the angry mob in defense of the true victim in this situation: Brett M. Kavanaugh.

In so doing, Republicans appear to be gambling that this will save them the Senate, or perhaps even lead to gains there. But it could cost them the House — yet this appears to be a risk Republicans are willing to take, since that appears likely anyway, and holding or expanding their ranks in the Senate gives Republicans a freer hand to keep remaking the judiciary.

In other words, Kavanaugh was transformed from a generic conservative hatched in a Federalist Society lab into a Trumpist. This may explain Trump’s attacks on Ford — aside from succumbing to his usual depravity, he may have sensed that he needed to get GOP senators more fearful of the wrath of the Trump base. It also helps explain why the White House advised Kavanaugh to show his feelings at his hearing, which he did by lashing out in anger and histrionic self-pity, while vowing partisan retribution.

Yes, it's about time to focus on Kavanaugh's victimhood. We have been distracted by the incessant, plaintive bleating of women for far too long.

Nikki Haley on Tuesday abruptly resigned as US ambassador to the United Nations, Axios reports. The reasons for her departure are unclear and this was not expected. Haley reportedly had a discussion about her resignation with President Donald Trump during a visit to the White House last week. The White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Business Insider.

Nikki Haley resigns as US ambassador to the UN

There is also this:

Nikki Haley's resignation comes one day after an ethics watchdog requested an investigation into her acceptance of free flights on private jets
United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley's abrupt Tuesday resignation came one day after an ethics watchdog group requested a State Department inspector general investigation into her acceptance of seven free flights aboard private jets from a trio of South Carolina businessmen.

Haley, the former governor of South Carolina, listed the flights on her 2017 financial disclosure and asserted that each qualified for an exception based on her personal relationship with the businessmen. But the group, Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington, said in its complaint that Haley's financial disclosure did not provide enough information to make the assertion that the flights between New York, Washington, DC, and three South Carolina cities qualified for the exemption.

Those flights were likely worth tens of thousands of dollars, CREW suggested.

I said Republicans are more dangerous than Nazis, fool. As bad as genocide is, extinction is worse. That makes climate denying Republicans a bigger threat to life on earth than genocidal Nazis.
