"If I did one mistake with Comey, I should have fired him before I got here. I should have fired him the day I won the primaries," Trump told the Hill. "I should have fired him right after the convention, say I don't want that guy. Or at least fired him the first day on the job. I would have been better off firing him or putting out a statement that I don't want him there when I get there."

It seems to me that anyone listening to that interview would come away understanding that what he is saying that when he won the GOP primary, he should have announced that he wanted Comey out before he got there. Or, he would fire him first day. Sounds fine.
Trump supporters still waiting for this 'great man' to step out from behind the facade like...
If you're referring to waiting for someone with establishment class, and suave Presidential manner and high-sounding words, sure. We don't have that guy.

But, we do have a guy who gets the job done, and done well so far, and is keeping his campaign promises. His job performance is fantastic. Way better than I hoped for. If you told me before the election that he would reduce the nonsense regulatory burden to the extent he has, i would have thought it unbelievable. The tax cut. Fantastic. His aggressive stance on trade, fantastic. His North Korea policy - wonderful. His lack of interest in new wars. Fabulous. His handling of the ISIS problem he inherited - couldn't be better. Israel/Palestine work - excellent. Renegotiating NAFTA - wonderful. the list goes on and on. I'm more impressed than I ever thought I'd be.

When he first announced he was running, and through most of the primaries, I was very skeptical of Trump. I was in favor of other GOP candidates (not Cruz or Rubio) to win for the GOP. I was leaning Hillary Clinton over Cruz or Rubio. It's when Trump was winning regularly that I started reading over his policy platform. I liked it. I never thought he'd be able to follow through, but man has he done so, in spades.

I like him better today than I did 3 years ago, by far.

Delusions and ignorance paraded on the international stage.

"Donald Trump urged Spain to 'build the wall' – across the Sahara"
Donald Trump suggested the Spanish government tackled the Mediterranean migration crisis by emulating one of his most famous policies and building a wall across the Sahara desert, the country’s foreign minister has revealed.

According to Josep Borrell, the US president brushed off the scepticism of Spanish diplomats – who pointed out that the Sahara stretched for 3,000 miles – saying: “The Sahara border can’t be bigger than our border with Mexico.”

Mueller will turn in his report to the DoJ in due course, it'll be reviewed, and redacted as needed before publication, and then we'll all know the facts, probably...
Washington (CNN)--Michael Cohen, President Donald Trump's former attorney, has spoken with special counsel Robert Mueller's team several times over the past month, ABC News reported Thursday.

The report said the special counsel team has focused primarily on Trump's dealings with Russia. Investigators were also interested in whether Trump or Trump's associates discussed the possibility of a pardon for Cohen.

ABC said Cohen participated in the interviews without a guarantee of leniency for himself and that Cohen was also cooperating with a probe from New York state into the Trump family charity and Trump Organization...

Of course, we already know about Trump being implicated in the hush money thing with Cohen, Stormy, and the playmate whose name I don't recall. There's also the various self-incriminating things he's said about the Russia investigation indicating obstruction.

But neither is a slam dunk, since whether they're crimes depend on his state of mind - did he have corrupt intent? Some lawyers have speculated that his best defense is one of ignorance, that he is a moron, something he should have no problem establishing in court. :smoke:

Except, paying someone for a confidentiality agreement and to keep quiet over an affair is not illegal. Confidentiality agreements are very common - aka nondisclosure agreements - and they relate to all manner of topics and issues. Many times when people are involved in disputes - one person says, say, I was fired on account of race, and the employer says, no, I didn't, I fired you because you were incompetent - that kind of dispute will often be resolved with a payment to the employee to go away and not talk about it to anyone. Hush money.

When you say Trump was "implicated" - you're saying he was implicated in doing something that isn't illegal or even unethical.

And nothing Trump has said has been "obstruction of justice." Nothing he said has been incriminating of himself of any such charge. Saying things like "this investigation is a witch hunt" or "let's wrap up this investigation" or "Comey should be fired" -- that stuff is not obstruction or incriminating.

Even if he had "corrupt intent" when settling a nondisclosure with Stormy Daniels or Karen McDougall, it's not a crime. And, even if he had a "corrupt intent" in saying "this investigation is a witch hunt," etc., it's not a crime.

Regarding the Cohen campaign finance plea -- If Cohen violated campaign finance laws, it doesn't mean Trump did. And, if Cohen fronted the money, but Trump paid him back, then it's not a campaign finance violation for Trump because Trump is allowed to spend any amount of his own money on his campaign. Further, if it's not a campaign expenditure (which it isn't, because it's a type of payment that would exist without the campaign - i.e., he can settle nondisclosures of affairs to protect his reputation or marriage irrespective of the existence of the campaign).

What does all that matter? Trump’s tweeting and assholery will lose him the 2018 election. Party then has to decide if asshole candidate can be stopped for 2020. They don’t have a kinder and gentler asshole stashed away. In fact they have no viable candidate for 2020.

And what good is Kavenaugh to you? He is a corporation guy like Trump. You want cheap coal and then to get that, ban abortion which is not a right protected by anything but whims of the court.

You want to protect the right of white guys to grab pussy?

It's pretty obvious we don't like Trump because of his many character flaws. That's enough. 42 is willing to overlook them because Trump puts a little more money in his pocket.

He had business dealings in Russia. Some Russian contacted him saying they had dirt on Hillary Clinton, which they apparently did not have, and Trump Jr was very interested in dirt on Hillary Clinton. There was a meeting, nothing happened. Trump paid off a porn star and a Playboy model who engaged in consensual sex with him. He's a philanderer, amoral, uncouth, rude and generally a loud and obnoxious person who demands those around him cater to him all the time or they will feel his wrath. Oh, he is both an evil genius, and dumb as a box of rocks, has orange skin and weird hair, and small mushroom head penis, and he has a grandad bod.

Have I left something out?

That's not accurate as to why I support him. I support him because his policy measures - what he's done in office - has been better for the country as a whole, not just for me (although I'm part of the country, so me too).

I know you don't think that's why. But you need to ask someone else why you support him. I'm telling you the truth about why you support him. Sure, it's a little watered-down, but it's the truth.

That is the belief of most Trump voters. And they have to do that, it would not be manly to admit he has done little. Cutting taxes just postpobed the bill. You can hold onto these false beliefs till the economic down turn 2019.

Let's see, believe the lawyers who've written about this and I've linked to, or take Forty Two's unsupported assertions?

That's a slam dunk. Sorry Forty Two, I know your in campaign mode, but you're FOS.
