Entirely agree Siva. Rum I am not being anti English but to say they played good would be an over statement. They were very lucky throughout the whole cup competition.

I despise the opium of the masses and the people who make it into a religion...
Plus, yeah, I've got some leftover anti English sentiment from English people trying to murder some of my ancestors around 1715 (first Jacobite uprising), and from being born a French speaking Canadian, so a French-English final match would leave me without a team I can root for (I utterly despise the French national team).

I'm so tired of hearing that song, it's all about war and none about the greatness of France, we ought to change it.Śiva wrote: ↑Sat Jul 14, 2018 3:58 pmVive la France! I've learned to sing the Marseillaise in anticipation.France beat Belgium 1-0 to make the 2018 World Cup final, while Croatia upset England 2-1 in extra time. France enters the 2018 World Cup finals as -110 money line favorites, meaning you'd need to wager $110 on a French victory to win $100. Croatia is going off at +360 World Cup odds (risk $100 to win $360), while a draw in regulation returns +230.

I wasn't questioning the sentiment I referred to on nationalistic grounds but I was genuinely puzzled given what a bright lot most people are here. I'm sure it was just ribbing as you say - aside form SD, who I don't believe for a moment.
As to France - it is my favourite all time country. I'd have ended up living there if things had worked out just a little differently.

Well I suppose you could take it so seriously as to make it a space to play out international tensions - what you call nationalistic grounds - but for me it's just a bit of sport. I could be criticized, intellectually, on the grounds of my commitment to my team - I'm sure someone could intimate that it is racist, or nationalist (the two are often held to be cousins), but it's just a bit of fun.
Do you not go in for sport much?

Then dont believe it. No skin off my nose. If you cant take anti English sentiment at your age then I am very sorry for you. My name is not SD that is somebody else btw.Rum wrote: ↑Sat Jul 14, 2018 4:29 pmI wasn't questioning the sentiment I referred to on nationalistic grounds but I was genuinely puzzled given what a bright lot most people are here. Anti English sentiment doesn't bother me remotely. Unlike your near obsession with your adopted country and hatred of the one you abandoned I have a fairly objective approach to the good and the bad about this country SD.Scot Dutchy wrote: ↑Sat Jul 14, 2018 5:14 pmThen dont believe it. The whole world is rooting for Croatia, except the French.
