And this is the point, isn't it: people have had their sense of values (in terms of possession and 'need') changed by advertisement.

My problem isn't with those that have the 'latest fads'.
My problem is with those that pursue those 'fads' at the cost of their general responsibilities.

I believe that many of today's problems are the result of an obsession with 'keeping up with the Joneses'. Jealousy of those that have the luxury of being able to afford 'fads' seems much like penis envy for men, and breast envy for women. Indeed, many women succumb to the 'need' for perfect boobies...as do men, I guess.

Apparently yer man Abraham Maslow found out that pyramid did not work on the Irish man and was in the middle of making separate one for the Irish when he died :?

Probably with drink on the bottom section

EDIT: Forgot to mention; I can't find any sources for this. I heard it on a radio programme a few years ago and can't verify its veracity.
