The despicable excuse for a human being deserves everything he gets.
From Hamlet:

Polonius: My Lord, I will give them all they deserve.

Hamlet: Good heavens, man, give them more than that! If you pay everyone what they deserve, would anyone ever escape a whipping? Treat them with honor and dignity. The less they deserve, the more your generosity is worth. Lead them inside.

As it happens he is on a suspended sentence for something similar - enough reason for an arrest.
"Something similar"? Similar to peacefully livestreaming in a public place, outside a public trial, causing no uproar, and breaching no peace?

Another favorite of mine, A Man for All Seasons:

Roper: So now you'd give the Devil benefit of law!
More: Yes. What would you do? Cut a great road through the law to get after the Devil?
Roper: I'd cut down every law in England to do that!
More: Oh? And when the last law was down, and the Devil turned round on you — where would you hide, Roper, the laws all being flat? This country's planted thick with laws from coast to coast — man's laws, not God's — and if you cut them down — and you're just the man to do it — d'you really think you could stand upright in the winds that would blow then? Yes, I'd give the Devil benefit of law, for my own safety's sake.

When our reasons for not caring about injustice is that the victim of said injustice does not deserve justice, and is an evil man who does not deserve the rights of an Englishman, then we are sacrificing the very principles on which the English common law, Magna Carta, the English Bill of Rights of 1689, and sending Rumpole of the Bailey doing back flips in his fictional grave.

Here, some are expressing schadenfreude over the scumbag Tommy Robinson getting what he deserves. Yeah! Give the asshole what he deserves! Let him have it! Cut a road through the law to get at that Devil, Tommy Robinson.

When that law is down, however, there will be no place for the rest of us to hide, because Tommy Robinson's rights are our rights. A press blackout ordered by a judge over reporting the fact of the arrest of Tommy Robinson? So, they're going to do it - pick him up for livestreaming, peacefully, in a public place, and then tell everyone else it can't be talked about - we want no inquiry in to this, or the inquirers, too, will find themselves rooming with Tommy Robinson. Shut up, all of you!

No liberal can support what happened and still call himself a liberal.

Fact, Hitler wrote Mein Kampf in prison after the failed Münich Putsch.
The Beer hall Putsch was partly a shootout between the National Socialists and the German police, and like 20 people, including several police officers were killed, and putsch was a coup, an attempt to seize power in Munich. That's a tad bit different than livestreaming on the sidewalk.

This story is so full of shit, they have contempt of court in the United States too, don't they?
Indeed, but not for stuff that goes on in the street, by someone livestreaming, and not saying anything, and then the judge ordered a media blackout. That's not within a judge's power here. Here there are protests outside courts.

Will they be blacking out the media when Tommy Robinson goes back to court to try to get himself out of jail? Will they hold anti-EDL protestors in contempt for marching and carrying signs outside on the street? What about reporters livestreaming outside the court? Are those "Breaches of the Peace" too?

One does not need to "endorse" Tommy Robinson to be rather concerned about what happened here.

A judge who locked the right wing activist up for 13 months for contempt of court told him his actions may cause the sensitive case to be abandoned.

The court heard it could cost taxpayers “hundreds and hundreds of thousands of pounds” if a re-trial has to be held.

A strict order is currently in place temporarily banning publication or broadcasting details of the long-running case or anyone involved.

Media will be able to reveal details of the case later this year.

The Yorkshire Evening Post can now reveal details of Robinson's sentencing hearing which took place last Friday.

Robinson, of Oakley Rise, Wilstead, Bedford, was arrested after naming defendants in the case, the charges they face and details of the allegations.

He also filmed defendants and confronted them as they were entering the building on Oxford Row.

The 35-year-old was held in the court cells before being taken into the court to face trial judge Geroffrey Marson, QC.

The judge explained why Robinson’s actions had been in contempt of court.

He said the order had been made to ensure the “integrity” of the case.

The judge said: “Nothing may occur which will prejudice the trial."

He added: “He was expressing his views. Everyone understands the right to freedom of speech but there are responsibilities and obligations.”

The only despicable people are the Muslims involved in this, and the Judges that attempt to keep this fact quiet.

Oh Rum, I wonder how many rapes this 'despicable human' prevented by educating young non-muslim girls. :ask:

Who is and is not "despicable" is irrelevant.

The accused rapists and sex traffickers must be afforded their days in court, their defense attorneys, the presumption of innocence, and the burden of proof to be on the prosecution.

”[t]hroughout the web of the English Criminal Law one golden thread is always to be seen that it is the duty of the prosecution to prove the prisoner’s guilt subject to… the defence of insanity and subject also to any statutory exception. If, at the end of and on the whole of the case, there is a reasonable doubt, created by the evidence given by either the prosecution or the prisoner… the prosecution has not made out the case and the prisoner is entitled to an acquittal. No matter what the charge or where the trial, the principle that the prosecution must prove the guilt of the prisoner is part of the common law of England and no attempt to whittle it down can be entertained.” – Viscount Sankey in Woolmington v DPP [1935] A.C. 462.

No matter how much the accused may be malignant carbuncles, despicable, awful, terrible people, they have those rights under English common law, stemming from the development of said law over the last 1000 years.

And, they have the right to livestream outside the next courthouse that will hold a hearing about Tommy Robinson, I would think.

For non-UK peeps mostly: The issue in question is the 'exploitation' of (usually) underage girls. There have been a number of cases of groups of men sexually exploiting vulnerable young women and girls and a number of successful prosecutions of these groups. The groups consist mainly of Muslim males who appear to have developed an attitude that 'loose' western girls deserve all they get and don't deserve the respect Muslim women get (putting aside the misogyny inherent in Islam for the moment).

The matter is correctly being treated as a criminal matter. The religion of the men is not relevant to the offenses as such. This scumbag decided that the Islam element deserved a good stirring up just to get some hate going. He's a shit of the highest order.

Oh, sure, he's a shit. But, he didn't stir anything when he got arrested. He was filiming, not saying anything, other than "i'm not saying anything," and "I haven't said anything." Now there are hundreds of people marching around protesting in favor of Tommy Robinson. They've raised his profile to an international level - nobody in the US knew who Tommy Robinson was -- now millions will know, and he will gain support. People will send him money.

Had they just let the guy alone, and let him film outside the courthouse, it wouldn't even make the news. Bring the witnesses and accused in through a side entrance. What's the difference?

There are high profile cases all the time, and they don't get gagged like this.

Trust the far right-wing nobs on here to support a racist, xenophobic, shit-stirring, criminal scumbag.

And trust them to support Tommy Robinson too.

Oddly, the judge just put a reporting restriction on Tommy Robinson's case, to end when the Muslim rape trials are over. LOL. No reporting on Robinson's case, until a different case is over. Reporting on Robinson's imprisonment is, the judge said, "necessary to avoid a substantial risk of prejudice to the administration of justice in *these* proceedings." But,there's no jury trial for contempt of court. He's already been sentenced.

Image

So, the judge throws Tommy Robinson in jail, and bans the entire British press from talking about why it happened, and criticizing the court's actions.

Britain's Contempt of Court Act, Section 4(2) allows for the banning of accurate, fair and truthful reporting, resulting imprisonment without trial for alleged violations.

That's an interesting law.
