Controlling sexuality is a means of controlling society. Superstitions & faith based idealogies are tools towards that end.

In the final analysis, sexuality between adults is no one's business. Adults being defined by age & nothing else (such as gender or mental age). When you try to restrict natural rights, people will seek some means of getting those rights back, hence 'crime' syndicates, that are in reality freedom syndicates. So you either have a free 'live & let live' culture, or you (the government) are forced into a totalitarian despotism. It's that simple.

There is no reason to try to guarantee a 'perfect' society with perfect opportunities & rights for everyone. Shit happens.

There is no such thing as the "exploitation of women". It is a philosophical/religious invention to make your arguments for 'exploitation of people; more plausible & palatable.

"Exploited" is a word that has been so over-used that it's become devoid of meaning. Everything is exploited, therefore nothing is. mistermack has a rational & healthy attitude towards women & men: So long as you're not deliberately physically injuring someone, against their will, then it is no one's business what you engage in, whether someone is paid & how much, what skimpy dress they wear, who & how they fuck, etc, etc.

But it's never been any different.
Marriages used to be weighed up carefully for the wealth and social standing of both parties.
In the past it was nearly all commodified.
The man wanted a regular shag and the woman wanted his wealth and security.
I'm not saying that there weren't love matches, but they were the exception. That was the reality for women in the past.
And of course, going back still further, our ape ancestors did much the same. Females traded favours for alliances and support, just like modern chimpanzees.
