Racism is a natural instinct. Just because you choose to suppress it, doesn't make you a non racist.

I disagree. It is reasonable to suppose that natural selection may have produced a tendency to be wary, even fearful of the "other" as opposed to in-group bonding and solidarity. This seems to be a tendency in hominid social groups in general. This tendency (calling it an "instinct" would be a misuse of terminology) may be a component in the development of racist attitudes, but is not in itself a sufficient cause of full-blown racism.

Your ancestors 20,000 years ago were likely to not just kill, but to actually eat strangers, and your descendants in 100 years time would do the same, without the benefit of the modern culture, which has developed over the last few thousand years.
At the moment, the education and indoctrination we get from the modern culture has reined in much of the natural racism that lurks in all of us. But it's a very fragile edifice, and like I said, it relies on the relative well-being that we currently experience.

You only have to look at Israel, or Syria, or the former Yugoslavia, to see real human nature in action.

Whenever I heard the subject raised, it is usually to divide by race, or other language which means the same thing. Diversity quotas, reparations, affrmative action, special hiring status in government jobs. Preferential treatment in awards of government contracts. Not all of these things can easily be called 'good' or 'bad', but they can certainly all be called racist.

Can you see why the term is not the most incisive insult, when you wield it at a target like the ever-vague 'alt right' ? It doesn't really tell me much beyond your opinion.
