If you're going to abort, wait till at least the 2nd trimester. Much more meat that way.
Yeah well that's just, like, your opinion, man.

Seth was rabidly anti-abortion. See, for example, one of his 187 posts in the 473 post thread titled Rationalia Abortion Thread (A New Start):pErvin wrote:Can't remember whether Seth was pro-life or not.
Scot Dutchy is almost correct. Seth opposed on principle everything that anybody on what he considered to be "the left" advocated. That was his criterion by which he judged "good" and "bad". I suspect he'd have supported the pro choice side in his typically black and white way if "the left" were mainly "pro life".Seth wrote:That, as it happens, is a simple biological falsehood, but a common one used by pro-abortionists to try to evade and justify their disrespect for human life. Of course pro-abortionists are idiots, and not particularly useful ones, so it behooves those of us who have some shred of humanity and compassion remaining to reject, vilify and excoriate them and their idiotic rationalizations.Hermit wrote:You have missed the fact that Brian Peacock pointed out an oxymoron. Re: Libertarianism is inherently pro-choice
Where in the world do you get that? I am prochoice, I do not believe morality is objective. I believe, and I've said this many times, that morality doesn't exist except as a value judgement in a person's head and is dependent on intent and circumstance and subject to different judgments by different people.Animavore wrote:Libertarians, in my experience of them, believe in "objective" natural laws. 42 and Seth, for instance, reject moral relativity, despite not believing in an objective arbitrator of such laws. If they view life as a right then being pro-life does not conflict with their Libertarianism.
I also am not strictly a Libertarian, although I have a strong preference for a small "l" libertarian appproach to issues, which generally means I approach government interactions skeptically, and I oppose government action unless it is in the furtherance of a legitimate governmental purpose, and the means used are reasonably related to achieving that stated end and the means are narrowly tailored so they are directed to that end (not vague or overly broad).
My abortion position is that abortion should be allowed through about 20 weeks and then after that there should be some medical need involving a danger to the mother that is higher than the normal risks associated with pregnancy. I'm flexible on the 20 weeks, and the determination of medical necessity should be governed by licensed medical doctors.
Prohibiting abortion completely is not feasible, even if ones moral view on it is that it is the intentional killing of a human being.

Re: Libertarianism is inherently pro-choice
I would have thought that it's fairly uncontroversial to say that libertarianism is inherently pro-choice. Are American libertarians largely Christian or something?

Oh I see the problem here; you're spending time watching youtube commentary videos about libertarianism. Stop doing that and your life will improve immeasurably.

Libertarian position on abortion: A state banning abortion is tyranny, but fetuses have the right to purchase guns and hire mercenaries to defend themselves against their parents.
