What did he say he lied about? He said Trump lied about Comey's competency and the morale at the FBI and that the rank and file at the FBI had lost confidence in Comey. Comey may dispute that, but they're not 'lies.' All the major Democrat leaders, we've seen, also questioned Comey's competency and fitness to be the head of the FBI, and said that they lost confidence in him. But, suddenly Trump's opinion of the morale at the FBI and whether others lost confidence in Comey, or that Comey was not competent to head the FBI, is a lie? How?pErvin wrote:
Your top cop called your president a liar and untrustworthy, and hinted at serious investigation into (and concern about) several members of Trump's team. In any normal country this would be a massive scandal. Because it's Trump, and everyone already knows he's a liar and untrustworthy, it's just another day in his presidency. What a sad fucking state your democracy has descended too.
Comey said Trump's administration had defamed him in comments made after his firing by saying the FBI was in disarray and that the workforce had lost confidence in its leader. "Those were lies, plain and simple," says Comey. Really?
http://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-39866767The director [Comey] was wrong to usurp the Attorney General’s authority on July 5, 2016, and announce his conclusion that the case should be closed without prosecution. It is not the function of the Director to make such an announcement. At most, the Director should have said the FBI had completed its investigation and presented its findings to federal prosecutors. The Director now defends his decision by asserting that he believed attorney General Loretta Lynch had a conflict. But the FBI Director is never empowered to supplant federal prosecutors and assume command of the Justice Department. There is a well-established process for other officials to step in when a conflict requires the recusal of the Attorney General. On July 5, however, the Director announced his own conclusions about the nation’s most sensitive criminal investigation, without the authorization of duly appointed Justice Department leaders.
Compounding the error, the Director ignored another longstanding principle: we do not hold press conferences to release derogatory information about the subject of a declined criminal investigation. Derogatory information sometimes is disclosed in the course of criminal investigations and prosecutions, but we never release it gratuitously. The Director laid out his version of the facts for the news media as if it were a closing argument, but without a trial. It is a textbook example of what federal prosecutors and agents are taught not to do.
The idea that there was a loss of confidence in Comey and that he was not competent to lead the FBI was fairly widespread, and bipartisan, depending on when you ask people. https://townhall.com/tipsheet/katiepavl ... g-n2324573
So, is it a lie to say that the FBI is poorly led and in disarray?
