In response to this email, and to Weinstein’s refusal to take part in the “day of absence/presence” (by staying away because of his race), a group of around 50 students marched to his class to disrupt it.

It's not inconsequential. This is pervasive over here. Maybe not where you are, but over here it is pervasive.

There is very little of anyone "arming themselves and killing people in the street." The recent event in Oregon is a rarity, and the culprit has been arrested and will likely be convicted and serve time. I suspect the prosecution may seek the death penalty by lethal injection (there was more than one murder victim in the same criminal episode as defined in ORS 131.505, plus personal and intentional homicide.

The difference between the actions of right wingers vs. left wingers is that the left wingers are far more often afforded Apologetics for their actions. Hardly anyone thinks right wingers being violent is good, moral or proper, including major media. However, the left often get painted in a favorable light, and their defalcations glossed over in the media to pain a favorable picture. That's in the US. Maybe where you are it's different.

It's a misconception that university is so much more expensive here than elsewhere. Generally speaking, the US has both very expensive, and very inexpensive colleges and universities, and assistance for college tuition and such is plentiful for those that need it.

The US also has the best universities - 51 out of the top 100 universities in the world are in the United States. But, we also have thousands of other universities, and if you want to go to college on the cheap, you can get a good education for very little. Not everyone needs to spend the money on the Ivy League or Cal Tech, etc.

The reason the stats on the US show high costs is because of the number of private universities out there, which feature much higher costs of attendance. Yes but this shit is happening primarily at the few big 4 year residence universities. The numbers involved are exceedingly small in proportion to your country's population.

Not really - first of all, there aren't just a few big 4 year residence universities. Universities are plentiful in the US, even 4 year residency ones.

Also, Evergreen, Oberlin, Middlebury College, Claremont McKenna, Gettysburg College, Amherst, Ithaca College etc, are not big universities. Some of the Universities, like Yale, University of Chicago, University of Washington, UC Davis, University of Cincinnati, University of Missouri, University of Wisconsin, and UC Berkely are big names, but these events are cropping up all across the college and university spectrum.

The ridiculousness is spreading and is pervasive.

It's too easy to further wind up people already wound up over non-issues. Late teens are idealistic idiots.
