We Need To Talk About Donald
Re: We Need To Talk About Donald
Have to admit, I've been following Dan Rather on my Facebook too. He's been a, em.. rather sane voice in all this nonsense.

I'd Rather you didn't.
So Trump is not going to unilaterally withdraw from NAFTA as promised. Surprised?

He's pretty much reneged on everything he promised. Although, looks like he's going for the tax cuts with his team of swamp creatures.Brian Peacock wrote:I'd Rather you didn't.![]()

He did not promise that. He promised to either renegotiate it or withdraw. Recently, there was an executive order under discussion to withdraw, and now he's talking about preferring to renegotiate with Canada and Mexico. So, while he hasn't yet withdrawn or renegotiated, I would think it's fair to give his administration some time on it.Brian Peacock wrote:I'd Rather you didn't.![]()

“When I was in college, I took a terrorism class. ... The thing that was interesting in the class was every time the professor said ‘Al Qaeda’ his shoulders went up, But you know, it is that you don’t say ‘America’ with an intensity, you don’t say ‘England’ with the intensity. You don’t say ‘the army’ with the intensity,” she continued. “... But you say these names [Al Qaeda] because you want that word to carry weight. You want it to be something.” - Ilhan Omar

Chicago Tribune:
Donald Trump's lies are working brilliantly. This new poll proves it. Voters are idiots
80 percent of Trump voters think it's a bigger problem that news organizations produce false stories, while only 3 percent of them think it's a bigger problem that the Trump administration makes false claims. (Among Republicans overall, this is 69-14.)

Trump the wimp
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/don ... 6db1def782Trump went from accusing the Chinese of manipulating their currency to agreeing that they didn’t. He has not made any visible progress in forcing Mexico to pay for a border wall. He was talked out of abandoning the North American Free Trade Agreement by the leaders of Mexico and Canada. And he was unable to bully Democrats into working with him to repeal the Affordable Care Act.
“He has folded like a lawn chair at the slightest hint of pressure, and he’s getting played like a violin by enemies like Vladimir Putin and Kim Jong Un,” said Adam Jentleson, former deputy chief of staff to retired Senate Democratic Leader Harry Reid of Nevada.
In Mexico, the country Trump has vilified since the start of his campaign nearly two years ago, a senator told The New York Times that political leaders there have started to see Trump primarily as a “bluffer.”
“In front of a bluffer, you always have to maintain a firm and dignified position,” Armando Ríos Piter told the Times.

Moreover, the master of the deal has not even been able to obtain the support of a sufficient number of the Republican reps to repeal the Affordable Care Act. So he chickened out from letting it even come to a vote.Tero wrote:Trump the wimphttp://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/don ... 6db1def782And he was unable to bully Democrats into working with him to repeal the Affordable Care Act.

http://www.slate.com/blogs/the_slatest/ ... lania.htmlTrump Administration Position on Supreme Court Case Suggests Melania Trump Could Be Deported
On Wednesday, the Supreme Court heard a case involving a Serbian woman who was deported after it turned out she'd misrepresented a fact about her husband during the process of becoming an American citizen. The Trump administration argued to the court that not only was the woman in question's deportation defensible, but that any inaccuracy on official paperwork, even regarding the most trivial and "immaterial" issues, can justify deportation and the revocation of citizenship.
