I actually saw an interview on the tele this morning with some locals whose whole houses shook from the bomb (so they were at least in the same sort of district at ISIS), and they were happy it was done. ISIS isn't loved by more moderate Muslims.Hermit wrote:It's either sarcasm or flying into a rage at the utter idiocy of what the yanks got up to. I chose the former. It saves on crockery and avoids startling the mutt.JimC wrote:Yes, OK, you're being sarcastic. However, it seems highly likely that a Taliban cave retreat would be in fairly wild country, not in the middle of a village...Hermit wrote:Fortunately no civilians live within the two kilometre radius of the bomb blast. Not something to use anywhere where there are civilians near by...
So you have no objection to wiping out a cave full of jihadists. Maybe dropping a $US16 million bomb using a $US155 million aeroplane running at $US32,752 per hour in order to kill 36 terrorists and destroy their ammunition and other stores is cheap, all factors considered. Maybe the collateral damage can be justified somehow. What might the collateral damage be? We can't expect anybody to provide figures that have not been altered to suit one bias or another, so I'm speculating now: Of course we can totally ignore the 1500 mountain goats and 89,621 other vertebrates. It's a sparsely populated area. Shall we say two per km² people live there? That's non-terrorists 47 dead.
The cost in lives and material is actually irrelevant. I think the MOAB has created several hundred tribe and family members who have now become interested in joining ISIS or al Quaeda, or are at least a lot more supportive and sympathetic to the cause of Islamic terrorism. In light of what actually happened, and setting the immediate collateral damage aside, do you still have no objection to wiping out a cave full of jihadists?

If that's the case, then they are not the pristine cave environments you were worried were being destroyed...DRSB wrote:http://thefreethoughtproject.com/wikile ... wikileaks/WikiLeaks: The Afghan Tunnels the US Just Bombed — “They were built by the CIA”

I have no problem believing it. Chances are that the USA financed the building of the cave complex when it supported the Mujaheden to the tune of 3 billion dollars. The nearby Tora Bora cave complex is entirely artificial. It's a labyrinth that goes on for many miles and was built with money and equipment provided by Osama bin Laden and the CIA. Read this.DRSB wrote:I am afraid, it is hardly imaginable they are all artificial. Let's hope the bomb killed all the jihadists that throw acid at girls.
As I keep saying, too many yanks refuse to learn from their past mistakes. And I am not just referring to its leadership. It gets voted into the position of leadership, doesn't it? It's only The Who, who won't get fooled again, but that's not a US band and anyway, half of its original members are dead.

Can you imagine if these sorts of decisions really were just down to who happens to be the president at the time? Holy shit, what a dumb fucking way to run a country that'd be.
The latest fad is a poverty social. Every woman must wear calico,
and every man his old clothes. In addition each is fined 25 cents if
he or she does not have a patch on his or her clothing. If these
parties become a regular thing, says an exchange, won't there be
a good chance for newspaper men to shine?

Luckily for you as a US citizen, they are not. Regardless of what presidents say, US foreign policy is always the same: If it as much as seems to be in the the US interest, bomb the fuck out of the foreigners. The few years during the first half of the 20th century in which the people's will prevailed were the exceptions rather than the rule, but even then corporate America finished up getting its way on both occasions.Sean Hayden wrote:Can you imagine if these sorts of decisions really were just down to who happens to be the president at the time? Re: We Need To Talk About Donald
This is mostly true as American foreign policy seems to be correcting their own mistakes, (basically short term thinking.) Believe it or not I wanted Trump to win just so the USA would become isolationist for a while. Just so they sit back and watch how the rest of the world works, I'm still hopeful that this will happen for at least 4 years or so, though getting more pessimistic by the day. I still love the USA and I wish we had their 1st and 2nd amendment rights and how can you claim to be a free people without them.Hermit wrote:I have no problem believing it. Anyway I'm just off to defend my civil liberties with my illegal possession of a plastic spoon, I hope the authorities don't find out.

Fuck off, either Trump supports Bannon or he can fuck off with his nepotism and his Soros (evil cunt twat globalist neo-corporatist monster) twat of a son in law.L'Emmerdeur wrote:Meh. Well, Trump is already raising funds for a re-run.
I hope somebody realizes it is still possible he gets re-elected.
