Trump is looking increasingly compromised by the company he's been keeping, and continues to keep (remember, Jeff Sessions lied under oath to Congress), and he really shouldn't be allowed to do anything serious, like nominate the empty Supreme Court chair, until all this is cleared up. A cross-party select committee enquiry under an independent prosecuting chair is the only way to address this I think. Republicans should be calling for that as much as anyone else, as it benefits everyone to establish the facts regarding Trump and his allies associations with Russia.

I can live with that. The government that governs best governs least. Maybe we can draw the line here, and start pushing it back.

The GOP can't be seen to lose face here. It would also be damaging for the Trump administration if it's first foray into legislation floundered and sank. If it looks like the vote isn't a sure thing they'll delay and spend a few days making promises or threats as required. Those holding out for a harder pruning of Trumpcare are just as likely targets to be swung as those holding out for softer pruning. In fact, those looking to strip more out of Trumpcare probably have more sway at the moment. If the Senate can't be relied on the Bill will languish while the GOP and the administration brief the FAKE NEWS!! media about how the 'losers' are blocking the will of the people yadda-yadda.

Nobody's talked about who or what body drafted the Bill - not who's sponsoring it's passage, but who actually formulated the structure, collated the material, and settled on the language. Any ideas anyone? Was it Ryan's Office, Trump's team, or was it outsourced to, say, the legal team of a large medical insurance company?

I have no idea who drafted it. At this point, it's not been coherently explained, in public, what it does. What I've seen bothers me. I was watching the news last night and an administration spokesperson suggested that as the law did X, it would bring prices down. Nobody challenged him on that, and was left with the definite impression that it was the same happy-horseshit that the Obama administration sold us. It doesn't mean they're promising to actually lower premiums...it's the usual lie where they claim that a reduction in projected increases in prices constitutes bringing prices down....oooo! they didn't go up as much as our partisan estimates of where prices would have been under Obamacare, therefore we've lowered prices.

I'll stand by what I said before the election. If he doesn't get a law passed that actually reduces premiums -- i.e. rolls them back, making, for example, my $1200 a month premium a more manageable $800 a month or thereabouts...fuck, at least break me under $1000.... then on this issue he's a failure. He said he knew how to get it done, and it was a major campaign feature, so I'm holding them to it.
