That's because Hitler was a lefty. He used the "National Socialist German Workers' Party" as his vehicle for his megalomania and despotism in much the same way as Stalin used Marxism. Neither Stalin nor Hitler can be be characterized as "right-wing" anything. They were both liberal fascists in the extreme.

Just because you're ignorant of history doesn't mean you get a pass on attempts at historical revisionism.

Totalitarianism is not the sole province of the left, but the left is just as prone to use fascism to achieve its goals as the right is, which is my point. Liberal fascism is a real thing, it's not, as liberals would wish, something that only obtains to the political right.

"Fascism" is HOW you achieve your political goals, not the political polarity of the fascists just as "religion" is HOW you go about practicing your beliefs, not the content of those beliefs (which is why Atheism is a "religion).

But for the most part fascism has been practiced by the political left almost exclusively in the last century and certainly in the last 50 years or so.

The thing about being a "student of political theory" is that most students of anything today are almost exclusively subject to Marxist propaganda and indoctrination, and of course Marxists would deny that leftist "authoritarianism" doesn't exist.

However, looking at just one contemporary example of Marxist/leftist authoritarianism proves how wrong your sarcasm actually is. And that example is Venezuela.
