Trump Carrier deal is peanuts, and standard practice for state politics

Among those other deals to attract new businesses, or to keep current jobs, states like Nevada, New York and Oregon have given billions in tax breaks and incentives to companies like Tesla, Alcoa and Nike.

In 2013, Washington State extended a tax and transportation package valued at $8.7 billion — the largest such deal in the nation’s history — to entice Boeing to keep an assembly line building its 777X widebody aircraft in the Puget Sound area. Earlier this week, the World Trade Organization said a part of that deal violated international trade law.

States “attempt to retain employers by offering retention packages. That’s an ancient story,” said Greg LeRoy, head of Good Jobs First, which tracks such incentives and subsidies.

Still, even that figure does not factor in what makes the Carrier deal different: its parent company, United Technologies.

United Technologies holds billions of dollars in government contracts through the Defense Department and other agencies, contracts over which President Trump would have influence. A former Indiana lieutenant governor who sits on the board of the Indiana Economic Development Corporation said this week that the company was concerned about its access to Pentagon contracts.

Trump, the New York Times reported, called Jones after the election to thank him for his support. Trump has been on the Jones show and praised the host’s “amazing reputation”; Trump adviser Roger Stone is an Infowars regular.

Trump has echoed Jones’s allegations that climate change is a myth, that President Obama wasn’t born in America, that Muslims in New Jersey celebrated on 9/11, that Antonin Scalia was murdered, that Clinton used drugs before a debate, that “globalists” (read: prominent Jews) are trying to take over America, that vaccines cause autism and that Ted Cruz’s father was involved in the John F. Kennedy assassination. Jones, who says he advises Trump privately, boasts that Trump repeats his ideas “word for word.”

As the Right Wing Watch website has documented, Jones has alleged that the U.S. government was responsible for the Sept. 11 attacks (Jones posted an old video Monday in which Trump appeared to suggest that aircraft alone couldn’t have brought down the towers), the Oklahoma City bombings and mass shootings such as Sandy Hook. Jones has said that “chemtrails” from airplanes spread a “weaponized flu,” that juice boxes are part of a chemical-warfare operation to make children gay, that Justin Bieber is brainwashing children to create an American police state, that Obama murdered publisher Andrew Breitbart, that an “alien force not of this world” is targeting Trump, that intergalactic shape-shifting reptilian humanoids secretly control the world, and, of course, that water fluoridation is mass mind control.

I'm actually seeing an uptick in Davedildo-type, mini-Hilters vomitting over computer game forums, spewing debunked shit about race and IQ and the like, clearly empowered because their bloated mouth-piece got elected, and Nazi leader got top advisor.
They get banned, of course, because game developers don't allow racism as a policy, and then they cry foul, believing their free speech is being quashed. They don't seem to get it into their ignorant heads that just because they got a piece of shit into the White House to represent them, doesn't mean this behaviour is magically acceptable.
