The thing about Trump is, lots of folks like him precisely for the very reason most of us (sane) people are horrified by him: they see his crassness and vulgarity as honesty and straight talk. We see him as breathtakingly unfit for office. But the fact that he's not an established politician is seen as a virtue.
And then are those like my born-again step-sister and her husband, who live in the Bible Belt. For them it's not that they're pro-Trump as much as they're anti-Clinton or, more precisely, anti-Democrat. These kind of folks are perfectly willing to let an utter piece of shit like Trump into the White House if it means keeping a Democrat out. For them, a Democrat in the White House is a worst-case scenario. And if it means throwing all their values out the window in the process, then so be it.
In other words, no outcome is certain. Trump could still very well take the White House. One must never underestimate the power of stupid people in large numbers.
