I don't think they will dump Turnbull, even if they have a narrow win. They will wait and see...

Re: Australian elections on the 2nd of July
I'd assume it would have to be straight away, as he will revert to social liberalism now that his odious deal with the far right of his party has been fulfilled. When he does that his popularity will soar, and it will be too hard to get rid of him at that point.

What does she expect to find with that royal commission? and why destroy that court? so common law courts or justices of the peace will be even more overworked than they already are?

She is fanatically anti-immigration and anti-muslim. Like many other right-wingers, she is a climate change denier, and on the Family Court issue, sees it as a place that attacks christian family values.

She's getting around 10% of the senate vote in her home state of Queensland, but only 2 - 4% in other states, so she is only supported by a very small minority nationally...Svartalf wrote:I see, and ot think that kind of scum gets elected

if that's enough to get her elected, it' already too much... Family courts have to go on, regardless of what chretins say.

Re: Australian elections on the 2nd of July
Each Australian state elects 12 Senators, so the minimum requirement is 8.33% of the vote. Hanson is a shoe-in. One more reason to hate to hate redheads. And one more reason to hate Queenslanders. Particularly so the latter. They are almost as despicable as Melbournians.

Re: Australian elections on the 2nd of July
OK, here's my prediction for the lower house (150 seats total)
Labour 72
Liberal/National Coalition 72
Greens 1 (would generally side with labour, but would want quid pro quos)
Xenophon team 2
Independents 2
Bob Katter 1 (will side with coalition, if they sweeten the deal by funding projects in his outback electorate)
So, to form a government, either of the main parties will definitely need to persuade the Xenophon Team, plus one of the 2 independents to vote with them...
They will be able to haggle from a good bargaining position for whatever special interest policies they want a government to adopt...
It will be weeks before the Senate is sorted, and it will probably be even more of a can of worms than the current one...

Re: Australian elections on the 2nd of July
Mind you, postal votes could favour the coalition in a couple of very close seats, so it could end up being 74 to 70, rather than 72 each. In such a case, the coalition would only need the support of one other member, aside from Katter...

Re: Australian elections on the 2nd of July
They need 76 to guarantee supply. So they'd need two more in that case. Looking at the news this morning and Labor are ahead in a lot of the 10 seats ABC has called undecided. I think it could very well end up being a tie or a couple of seats either way.
