This was picked up in another thread, but fucked if I remember where...

But I have a view that maths tests should make student's brains hurt...

Does this make me a bad person?

I've created a number of tests, quizzes, and exams, each specifically design with the aim of teaching and securing knowledge. Testing simply to produce some sort of league table, as if successful learning can be reduced to winners and losers, ultimately speaks little of aptitude or understanding.
