If 42 is prepared to say that rev admitted he was wrong solely on the basis of revs exasperation with having to repeat a previous argument, what else is 42 using flimsy evidence to jump to conclusions on? We should not forget the context within which 42 launched this unending defence of the supposed equality of women in the West. 42's motivation is to denigrate Islam by comparison with the West's status as an equality paradise for women, if they would only step up to the plate and take what is rightly theirs.

Qualitatively that might be so, but quantitatively most, if not all muslim countries have far worse inequality. But correlation does not imply causation. There could be a third thing that is responsible (like for example geography + history).
