The terms of reference for the investigation into the ABC’s indulgence of Mallah must include why a man who threatened to kill an ASIO official was cast as a victim while criticising our liberal democratic government’s anti-terrorism policy.

The omission that Mallah threatened lethal violence against a member our security forces and sexual violence against female intellectuals demonstrates more than mere oversight by the ABC. Australia’s public broadcaster has put Australian citizens in harm’s way.

What might have happened, for example, if either of the two female columnists Mallah proposed should be gang-raped in January were on the Q&A panel this week?

Unlike those female columnists, I was actually invited to be on a Q&A panel this month. I have written extensively on Islamist terrorism and have been threatened for doing so.

The thought that a man such as Mallah might have been sitting a few feet away from me on Q&A is, quite frankly, horrifying.

No woman should have to fear for her bodily safety in Australia when she exercises her democratic right to free speech — especially on our public broadcaster. And yet, that is precisely what I now feel about the prospect of appearing on Q&A.

There are serious questions which must be answered about the modern Left and its indulgence of Islamist terrorism and misogyny. We might begin by asking why the taxpayer-funded ABC indulged a man who promoted the idea of gang-raping female columnists.

Is it because the targeted columnists, Miranda Devine and Rita Panahi, are viewed as politically conservative and therefore deserved victims by Islamists and their left-wing allies in the West? Does the Left believe dissident women are asking for it?

We are bearing witness this week to a new form of political correctness — politically correct misogyny — where leftists and Islamists converge to shut dissident women out of public debate.

Fuck, I can't comment on this. I've been tearing into conservatives and authoritarians (usually the same thing, in Australia at least) all over the internet for the last few days regarding this. It's what my most recent rants here on ratz about fascism have been triggered by (and the political fear mongering prior to the show that lead to this event). Basically, this is the greatest case of confected conservative outrage we have possibly ever seen in this country. And the idiotic Murdoch press and the idiotic population are lapping it up. It's all just a confected outrage to divert from the frightening fascistic reply that the government minister gave in answer. He said he'd be happy to kick him out of the country for being convicted of threatening to kill someone, without a trial or court involvement. Basically, this young guy asked the question that millions of normal Australians want answered, but can't get answered because the government has turned this into a false "you're either with us or with the evil doers" debacle, and the opposition and media are fucking useless.

Exactly. It's impossible to take seriously anyone in this country who thinks it's the left that is misogynistic with the current extreme conservative government we've got.

edit: just to add... And this is why you are right that it's actually about attacking the national broadcaster for daring to call out some of the current (and former, I might add) extreme policies. The managing director of the ABC has hit back at the government and said what I've been saying to all these dumb cunt conservatives: what the government wants belongs in North Korea or Russia! YEAH!! And on "Lateline" a late evening current affairs program two ABC journalists finally addressed the criticism rationally and made a total fool out of a conservative poster boy (old white man, actually; yeah, I know what a surprise..). And even greater, another FTW from the internet. Someone found a clip of our last conservative prime minister fielding a question on the same show at the centre of this controversy (Q&A) from "convicted" "terrorist" David Hicks, and the PM opened his reply with a speech about how great it was that we can have these sorts of open discussions here in Australia unlike they can in authoritarian countries! Freedom of speech is very important to conservatives. It keeps the powerless from rioting by allowing them to jaw-jaw. And helps identify the worst trouble makers, or potential trouble makers, for the authorities so they can be put on a special list for the day. Indeed your freedom of speech is a trap.
