Assuming a kill rate of 1 for every 10 rounds fired and a population of c.7000 million, we're going need 10x more bullets than people: 70,000,000,000. Of course, with the right training we can probably bring that number down a fair bit. However, with a bit of creative thinking and picking the right sites we can irradiate the biosphere and kill most everything but the termites with only 20 nukes. Just goes to show how cost effective the Big Boys are when it comes to self-extinction - though with c.25,000 nukes in the world it looks like someone has been really overspending for next to no benefit.
