The reality is that I have no anxiety at all about my daughter going to one of the most civilized countries on the planet. I would do all I could (given she is 25 and her own boss) to stop her going to Detroit!

You mean weapons aren't considered fashion accessories in these areas ? How can such places be "the most civilised on the planet"?

Yes, but is many manufacture of AKM variant, some excellent, some not so good. Personal preference is of Arsenal rifle works, is imported from Bulgaria into American states. Even finest Russia manufacturer is look up and see Bulgaria rifle above.

Perhaps daughter of Rum need "Draco" style AK pistol for easier portable?

Arsenal SLR-106U, is very light weight & compact, Avtomat is not typically fan of 5.56x45 but is appropriate caliber for making light weight and low recoil. Also, is very stylish and is under $1000 America dollar. :prof:

Light and compact... yes, and probably as controllable as an angry anaconda... you need to be strong like Paul Bunyan or John Henry to hold something like that and fire it in avtomat mode...

An AKM is a hopped up pistol for security theater. It's definitely bigger and badder and more vicious than a pistol within the same tactical range, so it's great for guard duty.
Probably the bom for CQB though. :swoon:

I stand corrected. That Arsenal SLR-106U looks like a fine tool for clearing rooms, if it can has a steel magazine, a good rail system, and a fine Bulgarian butt for slapping. :{D

But we're talking of weapons as fashion accessories here, so silly accessories are actually a must ... AKM be too rustic for that in civilized country maybe?

Correct. The function of a gun in a woman's hands is to match her looks. Look at Dianna Rigg as Emma Peel, for instance.

I know that Rum's daughter does not look like some Polish peasant in black skirt, shirt, shawl, clodhoppers and headscarf just back from working the potato field, so she needs something like this:

Very controllable with minimal recoil, just like the 5.56mm NATO caliber pistols available from Colt, Sig and many others. Me, I like the Sig 556P because it doesn't use a buffer tube, which shortens the OAL.

The benefit of rifle caliber handguns is penetration. Using the soon-to-be-banned M855 "penetrator" green-tip military ammunition the 5.56 caliber pistol provides sufficient penetration to take on civilian vehicles and below-Level IV-body armor (which is the excuse being used by the BATFE to ban it) in CQB situations. Although large, the Sig 556P can easily be concealed beneath a generous trench coat in a shoulder rig.

Just FYI, the BATFE issued a new ruling banning the import or commercial sale of green-tip ammo, which was explicitly exempt from the "armor piercing handgun ammunition" ban precisely BECAUSE manufacturers came out with rifle-caliber semi-automatic pistols. Their "rationale" is that because this rifle ammunition (and virtually all other rifle ammunition) is capable of piercing police body armor, and because there are pistol versions of the rifles available, they can ban any ammunition that is capable of being used in either a pistol or a rifle.

Not sure this will hold up, but that's what's on the agenda.

Also, they sent out a new ruling on the "forearm brace" now owned by Sig, which they ruled was not a "shoulder stock" when added to a rifle-action-based pistol because it was not "designed" as a shoulder stock, saying that if the person in possession of the pistol with the forearm brace (which is still legal to own without being NFA registered), SHOULDERS the weapon (ie: uses the forearm brace as a makeshift shoulder stock) this instantly converts a legal non-NFA pistol into an NFA short-barreled rifle because shouldering the weapon is, in their idiotic interpretation, "modifying" the brace so it becomes an NFA-regulated shoulder stock.

I'm not sure this one will last either. Then again I don't really care because my Sig 556P with forearm brace would only be "shouldered" in a situation where the BATFE is irrelevant and they'd actually have to catch me in the act of shouldering the weapon to do anything about it to begin with, which isn't likely to happen.
