Re: The 150 Movie Challenge - 2015
In my case, I'm out of work because of a shitty back. In Pappa's case, I believe magic is involved and I suspect it's to do with his mustache. A twirl of his mustache...awesome kids. Another twirl...a beautiful woman by his side. Not enough hours in the day? Another twirl still and time slows down. It's a mistake to think that every wizard carries a wand. That's far too obvious and there are more subtle means, case in point being Pappa's magnificent mustache. Yes, it's much more subtle but it's easy enough to spot once you've worked it out.Brian Peacock wrote:I don't know where you folks find the time.
People think "queue" is just "q" followed by 4 silent letters.
But those letters are not silent.
They're just waiting their turn.

I think you're onto something there. I recall that he was twirling his mustache when I had an overwhelming urge to void the contents of my stomach up his back wall last autumn. Devious swine!

All measurement systems are constructs of convenience.
Re: The 150 Movie Challenge - 2015
Having watched Fury again, I'm going to rerate it a star higher. There's a fine inversion of Peter Shaffer's Equus underneath that blood and filth.
4.5 Stars also added for John Ford's Cavalry Trilogy

Re: The 150 Movie Challenge - 2015
I feel like I should justfy my score of Moonwalker. The last time I saw this film was in 1988, in the cinema, with the Cub Scouts. It was interesting seeing how my memory of it matched the reality of it. There were bits I remembered. Bits I remembered when I saw them. Bits I remembered, but not as the way they are. And bits I completely don't remember.
The film is a mish-mash of genres with no rhyme or reason. Nothing made sense in it, but it was just so funny seeing Michael Jackson runnning around with those children in light of what we know or suspect about him now. Almost every single line or situation became double ententre or innuendo. And on top of all this Joe Pesci hamming it up more so than usual.
That's not to say it was all bad. The Smooth Criminal section was undoubtedly one of the best things ever.

Dude, I LOVE Moonwalker. I hadn't watched it in years and watched it a couple ago, and it made me so happy. It's ridiculous.
