The last two sum it up better.. "therefore God". And "arse" wasn't a bad addition either...

Why fry on God? Frying in a pan is much more efficient.

I don't know who he is but I thought he gave a very sensible and thoughtful response.
People think "queue" is just "q" followed by 4 silent letters.

But those letters are not silent.

They're just waiting their turn.

Brand: "Because Universe therefore God". Arse.[/quote]

The fuck? I hated Brand when I first encountered him. "Who is this twat with ridiculous hair trying so hard to be funny but failing miserably?" I thought. But the more I heard him speak the more I liked him. He turned out to be rather smart and funny after all. Now, however, a spanner has been thrown into my brain gears :?

I was kind of a bit disappointed at his answer. As a well respected intellectual I thought he could have come up with something more profound than 'okay, so why do children get bone cancer?' ... limited.
Also, why don't registered atheists just not entertain the hypothetical question and not play the game? why would one answer a question on what one would say to someone/thing that doesn't fucking exist anyway??

still that gets the concept of a good and loving deity away... it's my stance, even if that god does exist, it's unworthy of worship.

Well, it all depends on the intended audience. We are "all" very seasoned atheists and debaters here, and we have heard all the common arguments ad nauseam. But I believe that Fry's simple and forward answer was probably much more effective on a larger audience, than whatever profoundness, that might have impressed us more would have been.

Sins. Not sings. Unless we sang when we sinned.
