Yup, vastly.

That's when I'm not cowering under the bed for fear of the armed mobs that roam our streets. Eh, Seth?

Interesting where all the recent terrorist attacks have been happening, isn't it?

When the mobs do begin to roam your streets, armed with all sorts of weapons, you will perforce cower under your bed, being entirely unable to defend yourself or your family because you have allowed your government to disarm you. That you think it can't or won't happen to you merely demonstrates the optical density of the rose-colored glasses you wear.

We're not nearly that stupid over here. We know that when the mobs roam the streets the government will NOT be there to protect us, and that to rely upon them to do so is a fatal mistake. Therefore, we are smart enough to maintain a supply of arms and ammunition with which we can deter and turn away the mob, particularly by banding together as a community to increase the force differential.

In Oz, one disturbed loony with no connection to ISIS, using a legally obtained shotgun. Admittedly, he was out on bail where he should have been locked up, but it is a small random blip in a generally gun-free environment.

Face it and be honest, Seth. You want your guns, and are prepared to accept a much larger homicide rate compared to comparable countries to maintain your precious freedom to "resist tyranny", the fantasy of being a 21st century minuteman...

So far.

The residents of Iraq, Israel, France, Germany, Niger, Congo and many other places haven't been quite so lucky.

And yes, that's one of many reasons I want my guns and I'm willing to accept the collateral damage associated with them. You see, I know what the actual collateral damage is when the citizenry are disarmed, which is thousands of times greater than in an armed society, as the USSR, China and Pol Pot prove.

Half the countries you listed are bristling with people bearing arms. Lot of fat good it does them, aye?

Depends on who's carrying them. Usually the problem is a lack of arms in the right hands, not an excess of arms in the wrong hands. Generally there are more good people than bad, so if all the good people are armed, the bad people have a much harder time being bad because everybody they encounter is likely to off them.

And in any event, since each and every law-abiding individual has an absolute and unassailable right to individual self defense against any and every sort of crime, one cannot bar any law-abiding individual from possessing effective tools of self defense without violating his rights.

Which is exactly what the 2nd Amendment protects.

You see, your right to be free of crime does not translate or extend into a right to deny others the tools of effective self defense because you fear that one or another of them might unlawfully use those arms against you. That's a "dissenter's veto" and that's simply not allowed.

Your lawful response to the threat of violence extends only as far as your willingness and ability to defend yourself without infringing on anyone else's right to do the same.

Sometimes. More often they survive together when attacked...perhaps 2.5 million times per year in the US>

Another 7 people failed to go around armed during waking hours and a gun on the night stand
(CNN)A man is believed to have killed seven people and injured another in a four-home shooting spree in southern Missouri before fatally shooting himself one county away, police said Friday morning.

A girl who fled one of the homes in the small community of Tyrone alerted police Thursday night, calling them from a neighbor's house to say she'd heard gunshots, Missouri State Highway Patrol Sgt. Jeff Kinder told reporters.

After police found two bodies in the first residence, investigators found five more bodies and an injured person in three other Tyrone homes, he said.

A suspect -- a 36-year-old man -- was found dead of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot in a vehicle in an adjacent county, police said.
