One of the strangest manifestations of the collapse of western society is the absurd idea that walking around with candles and putting stuffed bears on sidewalks is somehow an effective solution to mass murder. In the pursuit of this magical panacea, complete strangers to the various victims of school shootings, terrorist slaughters, and domestic violence feel compelled to buy flowers, candles, and stuffed toys. After which they publicly wallow in the hysterical mass-grief elicited by any given untimely death... particularly those deaths with good cable coverage.
