The "Terrorist Threat" rating for the UK has been lowered from "Severe" to "Substantial".

We can all rest easy in our beds tonight.

Does anyone take a blind bit of notice of the threat level?

We'll look back on this time in 10 years and chuckle, saying, "How on Earth did we cope with all that terror? There was just so much terror around, people were literally terrorfied...!"

Still, one good thing about THE TERROR is that the UK now has 25% of all the worlds CCTV cameras, which is nice.

The thought that they've actually dropped the threat level terrifies me. What are they thinking?!?!?!? It will send out the wrong message. People will start acting like there's nothing to worry about!

Thanks for that useful tidbit. Although I have heard words to that effect some time in the early seventies, and in conjunction with the Vietnam war, I cannot pinpoint a source for it either.

I do hope, though, that you can see the gist of that quote in the context it was offered just the same. Today our governments seem to find it necessary to white ant habeas corpus and many other bulwarks that are necessary to ensure the preservation of democracy in order to save democracy from its enemies.

Actually, it's happening right now: WHO declares a global flu pandemic, and we don't really respond to it, even though that could actually be serious. You're much more likely to due of a flu than a terrorist attack in this part of the world. But we've been desensitised to everything...
