I'd be quite happy to have a life spanning three centuries like that old WWI vet who died last week.

What's wrong with a simple .44 cal through the base of the skull?

If I had had a 44 to hand I might not be here , and as I will admit to having a good time or two since those events then I'm glad.

I had one in hand at my first serious suicidal consideration. I just went with my instinct that there was something inherently wrong with killing oneself. I, too, have had many a blast :euphemism: since that day. Only the living have options.

A couple of years ago, I made a plan. The plan is that if/when I get really old, first I'm going to gradually get weaker. Then, I'm going to develop some serious illness. Then, just before it's too late, I'm going to die. That's my plan.

My technique would be to tell Lady Huxley that we had run out of rosé.......

But for real - I suppose any method that will kill you more quickly than your nerves can fire an impulse.

I've seen people give up before they had to. It always sucked. I've seen other people who died while still in motion, trying right down to that last heartbeat. I know which way I'm going out.

Availability of guns in the UK for one thing. It is a point to note that in the USA guns owned for defence are 35(?) times more likely to kill their owner or another member of the owners family than to be used in self defence. Also as Bill Hicks pointed out that one is more likely to kill one's self than one if likely to be killed by a terrorist, so one is more dangerous to oneself than Al Quida :hehe:

I quite like Robert Falcon Scott's method, but it was quite expensive.

Hard to argue with stats. I've come within a hair's breadth of shooting myself with accidental discharges twice. I felt one of them tug at the hair on the side of my head. Almost shot a friend once, too. In all fairness, I also almost shot a fellow hunter with an arrow during bowhunting season, so I really don't think it's all about the type of weapon. It may be easier with firearms, but the main problem is human error resulting from carelessness or lack of training. But this isn't the thread to debate gun ownership rights. :shifty:
