It would be controversial. I'd fake becoming a Christian and write a book about the experience. I'd be raking it in.

To a certain extent, eugenics is a natural phenomenon. But it's not really eugenics, if it's not backed by the conscious intention to improve the genetic stock.

People will pick on the weak, the deformed, people with a genetic weakness. That behaviour is hard-wired into our brains. Now, in today's culture, we don't. But the instinct is still there.

In days gone by, Downs babies would probably get abandoned pretty often. Or bullied so badly that they wouldn't survive childhood.

People don't abort Downs fetuses to improve the genetic stock of the population, as in eugenics.
They do it for personal reasons. Emotional reasons or rational reasons worked out based on personal feelings and beliefs about what a fetus is.
It's not eugenics.

Sorry, you have to type yes and enter submit these days.

And the link does not work. So go to author index, Joseph McCabe and big blue books. He was a monk once. Teaching order, Franciscan? Only real predecessor to Dawkins.

If I were Dawkins I'd be ashamed I wasn't more like Christopher Hitchens.

If I were Dawkins, I would buy an island and produce porn.

Retire from public speaking and book writing completely. Has enough out there for anyone who wants to read him on either
evolution or atheism. And it would help him too by not getting into cyber wars with feminists about his questionable tweets
on that particular subject. He is of retirement age and has done his bit so is time to pass the baton onto the next generation

If you were Richard Dawkins you would have been reported to be sitting on 100 million Euros in 2012, so you could not only afford to buy an island. Forget about producing porn. Maintain a few dozen concubines. It would be the atheist paradise on earth for a privileged white male who thinks with his penis. The only downside to that is that you are 73 years old now.

The only reason that I included Dawkins in this thread is because he's a famous name, and people would bother to investigate a project because of that. It's not really about him.
But I really would like a famous internet record of religions, with facts, not dogma, starting from today and going back in time, so that people could really see where the stuff that they were fed actually came from.

I suppose that Wikipedia is the best online source for that right now.
You CAN glean what I'm talking about from wiki, but it's very fragmented, with links to different subjects, etc.

It would be nice if they did a wiki of purely the history, of what happened when, going back in time so that people can clearly see where it all came from, and when.

I'm especially interested in the story of how the Bible came about, as that is such a big thing today.
Who wrote what, why was this put in, and that excluded, what else was circulating at the time.

I'm really fascinated by the way that all reference to Jesus's marital state appear to have been airbrushed out. This was in a time when it was virtually unheard of for a Jew to be single. It was the first duty, to get married, and procreate. People who WERE single, would be single for a reason, like being a holy hermit, or monk or something. And it would always be mentioned.
Jaysus was unique, in there being nor mention at all of his marital state. It SCREAMS of being erased from the record.

There were hundreds of gospels circulating around the years 300 to 400 AD, but only four made it into the bible. One scrap of one dated from that period has Jesus talking about ''my wife'' but the rest is missing. It's tantalising stuff.

There are resources both online and off that cover all of those areas, people just generally don't seek them out unless they are academics. Dawkins really doesn't have the background or credentials to be the one. I really do wish he'd stick to evolutionary biology.
