Maybe... chalk it up to Rick Rubin (who produced Metallica's most recent album) and Metallica themselves for getting away from the 4-minute radio-friendly tunes they put out in the 90s. This one is over 6 minutes, and it's one of the shorter songs on the new album.
And it fuckin' rocks. :eddie:

Rick Rubin is notorious for A) doing bad recording jobs anyway (I mean, have you hear the System of a Down records? Rick, just because you're a rich label owner doesn't mean you should delude yourself that you're a good producer too), and B) for never really having done anything for Metallica anyway. I think it's common knowledge that Hetfield insisted on doing all the mixing and stuff. And the music suffers as a result. I mean, listen to the difference between Broken Beat etc and this:

or this:

Disregarding the quality of the upload, there's a notable difference in the production job. Both of these bands have top notch producers (he tried hiring the guy from Helloween for our full-length, but he cost way too much) and you can hear telltale elements, like the presence of the bass (in Metallica it's way too strong, overpowering the guitars and giving the whole thing a rubbery feel), or the sharpness and precision of the drums.

FrigidSymp is cool because he likes Metallica and Paramore.....
I love paramore as previously announced my love of Hayley Williams.
Metallica are just awsome.
