Yeah, can't believe they haven't made a TV series or movie of that. Not that I particularly enjoyed the books. The one book I can't believe they haven't made a movie of was The Magician by Fiest.

I'm not even sure who you were talking about... I don't watch it, I just get by on hearsay, and I have nothing against spoilers, I'll just expect the juicy stuff when I finally do watch it.

So who dunnit? I say it was Tywin, or possibly Cersie herself. They were closest to the cup that Tyrian handed to Joffery originally, which Joffery set down on the table presumably partially filled with wine. I didn't see the fool pass in front of the head table, but I'd have to check. But since the fool approached Sansa to get her out of there it seems as if he knew that something bad was about to happen. My suspicion is that the fool was tipped by Tywin to get Sansa to safety because she represents his last chance to get an heir out of Tyrian, and he wants to preserve that option. I suspect Tyrian because he is wise and ruthless and interested only in his dynasty and knows full well that Joffery is an incompetent who will destroy the reputation and House of Lannister with all his insane antics and megalomania, so he has no compunctions about poisoning him on his wedding day, but this leaves one Lannister heir, Tyrian, holding the bag...er cup, which Cersie takes advantage of immediately. But then again this could be Tywin's way of chastening Tyrian for getting Shea out of town (if she actually got away, which is not yet certain) before Tyrian could hang her, and Tywin plans to let Tyrian swing for a while before absolving him, as a lesson in obedience.

On the other hand, Margaery is an unsuitable person in Cersie's eyes, and is a direct threat to her queenly ambitions, and she has become both frightened and disgusted with Joffery's evil nature. By killing Joffery, Cersie regains her position as Queen Regent because despite being married, Margaery and Joffery have not consummated the marriage yet, and so it becomes null and void on his premature ejaculation.

Or, it could be both Tywin and Cersie in cahoots to get rid of the obviously psychotic Joffery, dispossess Margaery of her title, hammer Tyrian and get Sansa out of the way all at once.

Anyway, I agree, it was a great episode and someone finally got around to offing Joffery.

@ Seth... Look up the character on the Wiki, there are the answers you are conjecturing about.

Dude, the whole point is NOT to look it up, it's to gnaw it over and speculate and then see if you got it right. Sheesh. :fp:

So what we need is a GoT spoiler thread where anything goes, and try and keep the mystery in this thread. Anybody object to that?

Trigger Warning!!!1! :
crazy theory:

Cersei put the poison in the wine intending to poison Tyrian and Sansa. She didn't know of Joffrey's plans to humiliate Tyrian nor that Joffrey intended to make Tyrian his cup bearer. She was slow to react when it turned out that Tyrian poured the wine intended for him into Joffrey's cup, so she attempted to divert attention from herself by accusing Tyrian of the deed.
