The women Woody picks up on this show. It's supposed to be True Detective and have some bearing on reality.

You mean like True Blood should? :{D

I decided to leave watching it until it was finished, which I erroneously assumed it had, given that I heard it was 6 episodes long. So I watched all six last night. Dammit!
Trigger Warning!!!1! :
What a fine show. I think, hope, that everyone is barking up the wrong tree with their suspicions as to who the killer is. Obviously the whole King in Yellow and Carcosa thing hints at Chambers text. The Characters haven't made the link to that work makes me wonder if they are actually in some kind of Lovecraftian analogue, what with the burned and ruined churches, degenerate swamp folk, casual occultism, weird religious schools, bleak existential philosophy, hallucination and a supposed monstrous child raping "giant with scars."

That could all of course be a red herring but given the what they discuss with the two investigators and what we see them up to, including the massive list of "false reports" of children gone missing, I think there is something larger going on. I don't think "The King" is either of the protagonists and frankly would be disappointed if it was. Considering the odd behaviour of Harte's daughter, her rape scenario with the dolls, the drawings and her dalliances with two guys in their 20's, I think might be significant, but not to Hart's guilt, as to what, I have a few ideas but nothing solid.

That's what I like about this show, it plays with the conventions of film and narrative, signposting red herrings and making explicit clues seem invisible. What was it Hart said? Something like "I was looking everywhere for clues and it was right under my nose?"

Man, wouldn't it be great if there was some sort of format in which we could watch the whole series of events in something like 2~3 hours, straight through, instead of getting a little bit more of the story once a week? Fucking hell. :lay:

You could wait till the series is done, and then watch it all in one go. I don't have the patience for that.

That's what I did with Breaking Bad. But all through that time I was a committed non-TV-watcher. It took a lot of peer pressure from my friends to get me to watch the first episode. Shit splattered on the walls from that moment. Lost a lot of sleep during the two weeks or so that it took me to watch the whole series. I offer no apologies. It hurt. It was good. I seek more such pain.

I've been reading a bit about this. I for one prefer to sit and watch a marathon session, but it seems many people like the episodic format to chew over events for a week. I found with Breaking Bad it was often torture to wait. I think netflix have the idea right atm, release all episodes at once and let people watch them as they see fit.

Last episode on its way down the pipes. Not watched 7 yet - so a mini-marathon on the cards for tomorrow night.
