The point is that it IS a thought crime, and conservatives love stuffing their morals down other's throats. And the guy who got done for that is probably on the sex offenders registry. Basically his life has been destroyed because some conservative wankers think it should be a crime to look at two not real things doing naughty stuff together.
The cartoon image thing is a bureaucratic over-reaction, and we should be smarter. I agree it shouldn't have happened, but disagree that it counts as a thought crime. To do that in the same way as NK, they would be rounding up newspaper cartoonists who show Abbot in a bad light...
Conservatives may fulminate about various things, but we have a legal system, boring as it may be, that in general will not allow them to succeed in making thought crime an actual crime...

That is exactly thought-crime, Jim. A thought crime is a victimless crime and basically punishes a way of thinking. If it wasn't for progressives, who knows what crazy shit would be illegal to basically think about.
