I thougth we should have a thread to track ongoing developments in the run-up to the forthcoming Pacific War.

Today's news: Japan is to increase defence spending, buying new drones and developing an amphibious capability to "re-take" islands...

The USN has a ship called the "Ponce". I think it's fair to say that if the Royal Navy had a ship, they wouldn't call it that.....

IIRC, Churchill wanted to call a dreadnought Pitt, but George V wisely refused, pointing out that the jolly jack tars would only have to modify one letter to make a nickname.
