I read a short piece about this incident in a magazine at a news stand a couple of days ago, and what really caught my eye, was one of the "charges" brought against the now-dead uncle. The charge was, wait for it, "dreaming different dreams".

So apparently in NK, you can be arrested and shot for what you allegedly dream about.

Actually, it's not laughable as we do have prosecutions for thought crime. We just don't have the death penalty for them (although, I wonder if the US does. Wouldn't surprise me).

Give me an example of what you would call a thought crime that could be prosecuted in Australia...

The obvious one that pops into my mind straight away was that guy who got done for having "child porn" for having cartoon images of lisa and bart. And there's heaps of other examples that come up from time to time (although, most of them have slipped my mind at the moment). I can't remember the details, but a lot of people are getting in trouble in the UK for tweeting the wrong thing.

The point is that it IS a thought crime, and conservatives love stuffing their morals down other's throats. And the guy who got done for that is probably on the sex offenders registry. Basically his life has been destroyed because some conservative wankers think it should be a crime to look at two not real things doing naughty stuff together.
