Two signed Damien Hirst art works stolen from Notting Hill Gallery
Two signed Damien Hirst works of art worth £33,000 have been stolen from an upmarket gallery.
The pieces were taken from the Exhibitionist Gallery in Notting Hill, west London, in the early hours of Monday.
The stolen works, called Pyronin Y and Oleoylsarcosine, feature multi-coloured dots.
Police believe the artworks were specifically targeted and want witnesses to come forward.
(continued, could be connected....look similar?)

Re: Dots Stolen
Fucking shite overpriced for snot-nosed knobheads with too much money.
They're fucking polka dots for fuck sake.
When looking at art, I have a very simple criteria: "Could I do that?" If the answer is yes, it doesn't merit a second glance. Those bits of shite don't merit a second glance.

Possibly stolen by the artist to increase flagging sales in his other less notable works?Mysturji wrote:Fucking shite overpriced for snot-nosed knobheads with too much money.

Let's see:
Make a grid of circles.
Randomly determine which colour each circle will be.
PROFIT!!!

Funnily enough, when I actually go to a gallery, and have a wander around in the abstract art section, I mostly find the paintings really interesting and enjoyable. The question of their possibly over-inflated prices is a separate one...

^ Yeah, I quite like abstract stuff, too. Howard Hodgkin's stuff in particular. I haven't been to an art gallery in years, though.
I would also agree that Hirst's work is mostly over-priced bollox.

Not saying I don't do that, just that the question "Could I do that?" is never far from my mind.JimC wrote:Funnily enough, when I actually go to a gallery, and have a wander around in the abstract art section, I mostly find the paintings really interesting and enjoyable. (TBH, mostly the answer is "No.")

Re: Dots Stolen
Modern art is absolute shite.
All of it. You can get a feeling off it. But you can do that off anything. I can do it from a photo, or a leaf, or a tree trunk.
In fact, the thought that some twat went to the trouble of deliberately making that bollox actually inhibits any feeling I might have got, had it been a natural formation.

While there is a market for shit, there will be assholes to supply it.
