Given that, on average, it costs the American taxpayer two and a half times as much money to execute a criminal than to imprison him for life (due to the incredibly expensive legal process of dealing with all those appeals), all these methods seem idiotic.

Add to that the large number of innocent people who get wrongly convicted for murder, and the death penalty is quite out of line.

But all these good Christians who have the state kill people for them should accept that the offender will go to hell. So that should be enough punishment. But that would be unchristianly. Need to exact some revenge here on the mortal coil first.
