That's cute. I remember a huge shitfest that was at least partially brought on because he didn't get one that he probably should have.
What I've found with a few discussions I've had lately is this self-satisfaction that people express with their proffessed open mindedness. In realty it ammounts to wilful ignorance and intellectual cowardice as they are choosing to not form any sort of opinion on a particular topic. Basically "I don't know and I'm not going to look at any evidence because I'm quite happy on this fence."

Interesting that he gives a citation for the Zappa version but just
asserts that Ellison said it first with no reference.
Zappa is known to have said very similar things on many occasions (both on tape and in writing.) I would like to see evidence that Harlan said it
first (not that I am saying that he didn't - just that the jury is still out - "somebody said so on teh interwebz" is not evidence.)
