The Break Up of Australia

Post by Clinton Huxley » Fri Oct 18, 2013 8:19 am

Lamb Island, pop 400, is going to vote on whether to secede from Australia and set itself up as a constitutional monarchy, with King Bulwinkel as its head and either Klingon or Elvish as its official second language.

And as an island nation in control of their own borders, Gilson says they will not be turning or towing back any boats that land on their shores.
“We’re a very diverse community, very tolerant and we pride ourselves on inclusiveness,” he says.
With only 400 people, they could find themselves out voted and turned into an Islamic republic after the first couple of refugee boats arrive.
A rational skeptic should be able to discuss and debate anything, no matter how much they may personally disagree with that point of view. Discussing a subject is not agreeing with it, but understanding it.

Soon, Lamb Island will join the likes of Transnistria, Abkhazia and Nagorno-Karabakh.

Surprised 400 people can fit on that tiny island. Must be a dishonest lot if they complain about police response time.

rEv, I'm fairly certain the whole thing is a bit of a piss-take, for fun and to generate a little publicity; most of the island's dollars probably come from tourists...
