Not only were the funny bits shown in the trailer, but they also worked better in the trailer than in the actual film because they seem to have gotten a better editor, one with comic timing, for the trailer than they did for the film.
Other than that it was a real drawn out affair of badly strung set pieces which didn't hold my interest at all. I can't even remember most of it now.

If it's not good, why are you mentioning it here in this thread?
Yeah, I'd be an awesome mod.

I think Helena Bonham Carter's tits are fake in that poster upon closer inspection.

Peaking of top of the line trailers, I recently saw Machete Kills, and will certainly go watch Machete Kills Again, In Space when that comes out... I wonder how they manage a decent lemon around all the fun bits from the trailer.

Having seen the lady act in person, I can confirm that she does possess a rather fetching pair of norks. She would have no need to fake their presence.SteveB wrote:I think Helena Bonham Carter's tits are fake in that poster upon closer inspection.
A book is a version of the world. If you do not like it, ignore it; or offer your own version in return.

You know how photoshopped movie posters are? Nothing's real! That's actually a raccoon and not Johnny Depp at all.

I just watched Cabin in the Woods, which I hadn't realised I'd seen before. It was not bad at all. Also I watched Zodiac which I had seen before. It's rare to see a David Fincher movie that's any good these days.

Boy. A New Zealand film. Amazon recommended it based on other purchases so I got it along with a bunch of others. It was at the bottom of the pile, almost forgot about it. Didn't expect much, thought I'd like it the least. Turns out it was the best one I bought. First, it was fucking hilarious. Just listening to the characters talk in their funny mumbling accents had me laughing out loud. But it was also very poignant, and yet without being overly sentimental. I laughed lots. I cried lots. Can't ask for more than that.

One of my brothers and I watched Jaws last night*. Lots of toothy goodness and ominous background music assured.

I just saw Gravity. Quite entertaining, above all visually spectacular, even if it is scientifically exaggerated and has minimal plot. And Sandra Bullock's character is given an extra level of depth that really isn't necessary for the audience to identify with her, but I think that's a minor fault compared to the liberties taken with physics. Still, I would recommend it to anyone.

I saw solomon kane the other day. I was most impressed by it. Lots of good hack and slash and amusing too.
Outside the ordered universe is that amorphous blight of nethermost confusion which blasphemes and bubbles at the center of all infinity—the boundless daemon sultan Azathoth, whose name no lips dare speak aloud, and who gnaws hungrily in inconceivable, unlighted chambers beyond time and space amidst the muffled, maddening beating of vile drums and the thin monotonous whine of accursed flutes.

Red Tails. Not brilliant. The dogfights looked like a spielburg and reading the spiel that is what they turned out to be. Love instance was unusual in that they spoke different languages except for the rainman moments when they didn't. Very surface emotional American plastic/cardboard characters. Noticed the radio looked like a fifties transistor in one scene. Jet fighters got shot down too easy for things so quick.

World War Z. I was underwhelmed when I saw it in the theater, but for whatever reason I liked it quite a lot this second viewing. The whole they're-attracted-to-sound thing still seems kind of corny to me. But beyond that, I thought the performances were great, a very well-acted film. And the script was full of surprises and had a lot of nice touches, and also managed to avoid cliches fairly well.
