Gun shows every Saturday.
Generally speaking, hanging out wherever they felt safe hating brown people. So the Iraq war was safe, because mainly brown people would die.
It's sad to unhide certain people here and see them *still* bravely defending the bigots.
Hate and fear is there, visible just under all the pseudo-patriotism.

And Obama only has himself to blame for the stupid shit he pulled during the shutdown such as evicting people from their own homes located on federal park land or blocking off open memorials in D.C. These are classic "dick" moves and everyone can see it was done out of spite instead of necessity.
And last I checked, access to national monuments is not "Essential to the protection of life and property". Don't like it? Blame the Boehner clique in the US House of Representatives. They shut them down.
You don't need to shut down a park. It just exists. There should be nothing to shut down.
I think the water, and the trees, and the land, etc. will get along just fine without the government's help... you know since they always have since the existence of the planet.
Obama is doing it to be spiteful. This is painfully obvious.

Tell your man Boehner to pass the budget that opens the parks.
As long as someone like the Gubment owns land in the US, they have liability. Nordic countries have freedom to hike through unfenced lands and even camp there. But you can't sue the land owner if you use this right.

The same Federal Law that established the NPS in 1916 requires the NPS to close and guard them when their funding gets temporarily yanked, just like the last shutdown. You weren't aware of that? Do you think John Boehner is?

The NPS doesn't need to close or "guard" anything. They can stay home. If the government is shutdown, there should be no funds to enforce the law you cite, nor does it need to be anyway.piscator wrote:Collector1337 wrote:What stupidity.piscator wrote:Well, if someone is squatting on a National Park or other US Public Lands, it's not really "Their home" is it?Tyrannical wrote:The media can keep spreading the blame Republicans lie, but the latest Obama approval rating of 37% tells a different story![]()

Land is land.
If they put up a fence, I'll just go over it. They are "shut down" but still have the funds to "close and guard?" Then they might as well just stay "open" then.
But wait, a park is just a park. It's just land. There is nothing to "open" OR "close."
Perhaps we should "close" the ocean as well?
Don't you dare go out on the ocean without the government "opening" it first!

Yes they do. No they can't.
The Organic Act of 1916 created the National Park Service "to conserve the scenery [of The National Parks] and the natural and historic objects and wildlife therein, and to provide for the enjoyment of the same in such manner and by such means as will leave them unimpaired for the enjoyment of future generations.

D.C. is breaking with Obama and now insisting that Democrats accepts a house continuing resolution to fund D.C.

I'm thinking if the border was closed because it was non-essential,those god damn border guards would start keeping people out. Or be replaced with park rangers.Collector1337 wrote:Yes they can. They are non-essential.piscator wrote:Collector1337 wrote:

The House did pass a budget. The Senate won't put it up for a vote.Tero wrote:Tell your man Boehner to pass the budget that opens the parks.

I don't have any problem with them shutting down "parks" per se because there are often monuments and structures that could be damaged if left unattended, and so that is essential to the preservation of property. What is douchey is purposefully exacerbating the situation to create as much public angst as possible so you can use it for political purposes.Tero wrote: As long as someone like the Gubment owns land in the US, they have liability.
